Nunes says she still wants the Cyborg fight and Dana is all for it but Cyborg would rather fight a legit 145er.

Already a weak card before it. I don't say this often but they should downgrade to TV or cancel- it's going to do ~100k, tops

Urijah Hall vs Belfort scratched from tomorrow's card. Hall couldn't weigh in.

Michael Johnson having a tough go recently. He's now lost 5 of his last 6 and been finished 3 straight times.

why did bellator schedule a saturday night event(usually fridays)? they have an alright card but going against 220 will get them pretty low viewership

fair enough

“I think if you look at our past history, we have traditionally done I want to say 80 percent of our shows on Friday night and we’re happy to do shows on Friday night, it’s just that we have a business to run, they have a business to run and this is a fight that just happens to conflict,” Coker said. “We didn’t know when we booked the date that they had a pay-per-view date. We just said, ‘Hey, this is the date that’s only available that’s open for Paramount and it’s the launch of the network, it has to be on this weekend, and the venue was available and the venue happens to be in California, which we’re not going to go on a Friday night in California, which would be a terrible mistake (due to traffic).

bellator card is arguably deeper than ufc 220...but i'm not gonna miss ngannou vs stipe or cormier vs volkan.

Francis Ngannou (-175) vs. Stipe Miocic (+165)
He's the champ for a reason. Ngannou hasn't fought anybody on this level. Stipe won't stand there and let himself get knocked out.

Daniel Cormier (-290) vs. Volkan Oezdemir (+260)
Puncher's chance and Cormier is 38 years old. Maybe a weird short hook catches him in a clinch.

Shane Burgos (-125) vs. Calvin Kattar (+105)
Staying away from this but looking forward to the fight.

Gian Villante (-170) vs. Francimar Barroso (+150)
Villante hasn't seen a punch he didn't mind taking on the chin. Not looking forward to this fight much.

Thomas Almeida (-120) vs. Rob Font (EVEN)
Almeida is better than Font. Should be a good contest though.

DC on weight. Dude's a pro. Really is remarkable that he's never missed despite obviously having a bad cut.

took a while for me to realize, being that i appreciate him as a fighter, but stipe miocic has a repellant personality and i hope he loses big time.

Does he? He's always seemed like an OK dude to me?

Maybe it's the volunteer fire fighter thing masking something else though...

Regardless, I doubt he's anywhere near as bad as Paulo Costa, who I was thinking seemed like a cool prospect till...

There's some rumors that a (possible double retirement) fight with Brown vs Condit is being worked on for the same show. Which... holy shit for a 1-2 punch of action fights.

Call it UFC: VIOLENCE

Hypothetical:

Ngannou is the real deal. He beats Stipe in the first round in similar fashion to Overeem (highlight reel KO)

His next fight is vs Cain during International Fight Week. A major co-main is on the card (let's say Cyborg vs Nunes). He wins and Cain specifically can't take him down. KO. He calls out Brock Lesnar.

Ngannou faces Brock at the end of the year. Undercard is a net neutral - a top contenders fight in a different division as co-main, a fun action fight third from the top. Ngannou destroys him (naturally)

Ngannou then faces Jon Jones, fresh off a one year suspension in the first quarter of 2019 - same sort of net neutral undercard.

What do you think the buys for these shows are? I guess the question is: what is the absolute peak of drawing potential for Ngannou? Is it being the new Tyson? Is it Conor/Ronda/Lesnar territory? Or, despite all attempts, is there limits to a UFC heavyweight's drawing potential in 2018?

I guess all of those could also apply to Stipe, although, honestly, I'm not sure he'd care to fight Lesnar? Maybe he would, as a craven cash grab?

My feeling is:

Miocic/JDS 2 did around 300k. Miocic/Overeem did almost 500k but a lot of that was CM Punk. Guessing tonight does 425.

Cain/Ngannou would do... 550? 600? Stipe/Cain would do 400-450? But if it's IFW, I'd up it to 650-700 and 550-600 respectively (with the Cyborg/Nunes co-main)

Brock/Ngannou would do around a million. 1.2 mill with a masterful build and a better undercard. Brock/Stipe feels like... 800k? 850?

Jones/Ngannou would probably also do around a million. If you can really convince people Jones is for real at heavyweight (maybe if he comes back a little earlier and beats a top contender first?) then, again, 1.2 million isn't out of the question. Stipe/Jones, again, feels like 800k? 750?

I just think Ngannou's peak drawing power is higher - the physical presence, the 'MMA Tyson' comparison point, the highlight reel KOs. He also is a being of pure hype, at this point. Stipe had early career stumbles and doesn't have the charisma. Obviously, a quarter million plus buys isn't anything to sneeze at, though - if he maximizes his potential and gets the right opponents, I do think he can be somebody. But Ngannou's peak is a really interesting hypothetical, I think.

I think I'm watching UFC most of the night but if Kyle Bochniak vs. Brandon Davis lines up with Pico or Chandler's fight, I might flip over and if Valante and the 3rd from the top lines up with Lima/MacDonald, it's hard not to watch that one instead.
