What do you guys think of tonight’s card outside of the championship fights?

Outside out of the top 3 fights, it's a weak card and DJ-Cejudo probably won't be competitive but I'm still excited

Probably going to skip it. Picking Cody this time and a small part of me thinks Cejudo might actually get it done

Johns/Muhnoz Rd 2 was a Round of the Year Candidate but I think Pedro lost himself 50k by grinding out a boring third round.

The Till/Woodley show is one of the best top to bottom shows of the year. MSG is a main event away (and, well... Diaz staying on the card) from the same.

Interesting that all 3 PPVs end up having a showcase division - tonight it's bantamweight (5 fights), next show it's the Women's Strawweights, MSG it's Middleweight

Wasn't planning on watching this but I saw it showing at some wings spot as I was driving by so I strolled in, missed the first round. I had a feeling HC might pull that off and I told the guy sitting next to me towards the end that we might be looking at a split dec. Takedowns won it. Excited for the triology, bar was really into it.

TJ looked like a million bucks there.

Cruz rematch up next? Given them making TJ/Cruz a debate as to the top BW of all time, I could see it. First fight was real good too.

bummed about mighty mouse losing that. i thought he landed the cleaner, more damaging blows, but cejudo just ate them like nothing. for half of his takedowns, cejudo didn't generate a lot of damage, but it was a close contest.

viana/aldrich should not have been main card. not a good choice.

I haven't seen the full fight yet but media scores are pretty even.

http://mmadecisions.com/decision/9284/Henry-Cejudo-vs-Demetrious-Johnson

Really liked how DJ handled the loss, he did at least 5 post fight interviews and never made any excuses or complained, Joanna needs to take some notes. DJ said he's likely got two injuries. Rematch with Henry needs to happen next. Can do it in Jan-Feb.

TJ should fight Moraes next, do Cruz-Assuncao, and Cody can fight the loser of Dodson-Rivera. Cruz shouldn't get a jump at a title shot after a dominating loss and a long layoff, sure it would garner slightly more interest but not enough to warrant it.

Cejudo fighting TJ at 135 doesn't interest me too much

If Brock fights DC in Jan/Feb and DJ is ready, it's a fun fight to put on that undercard, maybe with Rose or Holloway ready to defend their titles too?

Apparently Derrick Lewis vs Volkov is the co-main of the Conor/Khabib show. Dislike when they don't really try to put compelling stuff on these undercards.

he kept saying in the octagon interview how cejudo is a "big dude" and he kept feeling how big he was, even though:

Henry Cejudo (124.5 to 141 = 12.8%) def. Demetrious Johnson (125 to 142 = 13.6%)
https://www.mmafighting.com/2018/8/6/17655020/ufc-227-fight-night-weights-all-but-six-fighters-come-in-over-csac-regulations

He was definitely doing a whole line of soft excuses and backhanded compliments in the post-fight interview there, but it's understandable and i thought he did a good job overall too

I didn't watch any other interviews he did after

It was a pretty good fight

was there a reason why they didn't stick poirer/diaz as the co-main?

They're on the MSG card not this card. Trying to help that card. Presumably they think this show can draw without any real 'help'. I remember the first DC/Jones fight had an astonishingly weak undercard too.

I don't know how ppv buyrates are counted, when they say a show did 600k buys, is that a total everywhere number or just the domestic? I also don't know how Russia or Ireland get cards? I know in some UK countries, they don't have ppv and get the cards free(guessing basic cable equivalent). Helwani thinks 229 will hit the 2mil mark but I doubt that. It could maybe get near or just slightly above the previous record. They just added a few more fights but nothing special. Putting out a lackluster undercard could end up fucking them if they lose the main event.
