Second half of this was awesome. My only problems are the schmaltzy Snuffy Walden theme and score (which really just seems painfully out of place on HBO), the threat of the love triangle taking up an increasing amount of time in the coming episodes, and Sam Waterston's character is kind of grating. If he's gonna be an affable drunk, he needs to be funnier.
I honestly can't imagine why anyone who liked Sports Night or The West Wing wouldn't like this. Especially after it settles into a groove.
EDIT: Of course, I'm pretty easy to please: I was fist-pumping when Maggie came through with the MMS numbers and then Daniels grilled the new kid on the air.
Also "Everybody's thoughts and prayers are with the missing workers, nobody's thoughts and prayers are with the fire!" was pretty good.
