Also how's this schmaltzy music flying on HBO? God, this is so fucking milquetoast.

God awful. Cannot believe it's something in a TV show in 2012 on any channel with the exception for maybe something on Lifetime.

Yeah, and I'm pretty curious to see what the Sorkin dudes on here thought.

I understand how much of the way he operates can grate, because it took me a while to get into him myself. But if you can get past his affectations, there's a lot to love.

I love how the AV Club demographic is dead set against this show because Jeff Daniels' character (who's clearly at least a little out of touch and a major dickhead) dissed "millenials".

Ok, it picked up a bit and the broadcast stuff was pretty compelling. Please be just that for the rest of the show—no soapy shit.

Second half of this was awesome. My only problems are the schmaltzy Snuffy Walden theme and score (which really just seems painfully out of place on HBO), the threat of the love triangle taking up an increasing amount of time in the coming episodes, and Sam Waterston's character is kind of grating. If he's gonna be an affable drunk, he needs to be funnier.

I honestly can't imagine why anyone who liked Sports Night or The West Wing wouldn't like this. Especially after it settles into a groove.

EDIT: Of course, I'm pretty easy to please: I was fist-pumping when Maggie came through with the MMS numbers and then Daniels grilled the new kid on the air.

Also "Everybody's thoughts and prayers are with the missing workers, nobody's thoughts and prayers are with the fire!" was pretty good.

I liked it a whole bunch, but then I can also see the validity of most critics' complaints about it.

It's the summer though so I'll definitely keep watching it, only thing on the air right now that I'm interested in besides Bunheads.

You guys, I fucking loved this. Of course it has the (obvious) flaws of a Sorkin show but I honestly don't care. This was a great hour of television.

Title of Episode 8 seems to be "The Blackout Part 1: Tragedy Porn". This is already the best show on television.

Forget you people dumping on Snuffy Walden. During the opening I told my wife, "It feels good to watch some Sorkin opening credits again."
