I want to download this, Last of Us and Journey but I still have Gears of War 3 from Gamefly sitting on my coffee table. WHAT DO I DO
get journey now then play it
fuck off everything else in your life until it's done

spend all day on that web site
lots of total bullshit (that is probably worth a look anyway)
he does really intricate and well done puzzles (theatrics, english country tune and the rose garden are classics);
interesting concept one-offs that aren't really games at all (primitive pattern, dirty little slut, computer aided design);
ridiculous jokes (crush fetish trilogy, modernauts, american dream);
stupid games that are just really awful (sub/conscious, serenade, six minutes of broken promises);
slow-paced story games with minimal player input (oiche mhaith, the terrible whiteness of appalachian nights, therapy game)
and incredibly strange 3d hell-simulators (in a single breath, cities of day and night, salome)
sort of feels like the game equivalent of graham lambkin / the shadow ring
only english country tune costs money and the vast majority are browser based
there are like at least 100 games

dude is great, there was a new yorker blog piece on him a little while ago, but it seems to mostly miss the point. His best stuff is obviously the puzzle games. he's like a digitally souped up Sam Loyd, using technology to explore these interesting mathematical spaces you can't really conceive on just pen and paper.

modern games that use legacy graphics are the total dream. you focus on animation and articulation while leaving some of the edges rougher and you can do so much more with the game itself

i read an interesting piece by some ranty developer who was saying how games would be much cheaper if it weren't for the used games market, so i'm not entirely against this as i mostly only buy new and never trade in which tends to mean i wait a year or so for shit to be affordable. but not being able to lend games to friends can fuck off.
