they haven't put out anything that has been worth the hype around it since ffxii. I haven't played xiii-2 yet, but I probably will once I can find it on a massive sale.

the dev's admitted they outsourced the boss fights to another studio.

the DLC showed how the boss battles should've been, and im hoping they keep it that way if they do a sequel

i was impressed how candid they were in copping to their failure there, and it certainly makes me hopeful for the next one [if there is one]

is the dlc worth shelling out for? i tend not to buy any unless it's half price or w/e

yeah. its been a while since i played it, but i think i got a good 4 hours out of it.

its kinda weird because it fills in a gap in the story later on, rather than being something completely unrelated.

i liked that it resets your augmentations, so you can experiment with a bunch of different builds

oh cool, i'll keep an eye out for that in a sale then.
i think i pretty much maxed out all the augs i would ever make use of, since invisibility and all that nonsense feels like too much of a cop-out in a stealth game, but it'd be fun to try something new.

this was probably my main problem with it; by the end i had several upgrade points just sitting around, because there were no more abilities worth putting them into. i hate games where you have every upgrade by the end, and it turns out you weren't really specializing at anything after all

Haven't had a system in years, and decided to get a PS3 today. For months I thought I'd be an XBox guy, whatever that means, but Journey has me so enthralled, and I really want to try Ico /Shadow. Plus that Vanillaware game happening whenever.

Obviously, I'm leaning towards the artsy fartsy shit.

Suggestions ahoy.

Tera isn't bad, and the fight system is slightly progressive over other MMOs (though not as much as people will be saying... ranged attacks are still too forgiving, and melee attacks in other MMO's still say "out of range" or "need to be facing target" anyway to hit).

i can't speak for the instances in tera, but in terms of leveling up in the world.... Rift > WoW > Tera. (but Rift had horrible PvP and nearly no endgame content)
in terms of instances: wow >>> rift // pvp: wow >>>>>> rift

given the string of bad decisions that played into rare's ten year self-destruction, this is an interesting read:
http://www.mundorare.com/features/stampedes-sorrowful-swan-song

the game in question actually looks like a lot of fun. more fun than red dead redemption, at least

I wonder if a Banjo Kazooie kickstarter would be successful. Probably not in sales, but it was always a late favorite in my childhood and I actually really liked Nuts n Bolts, but I figure there won't be another game

I try to just tune him out. But yes he is very annoying.

There are a lot of weird elements about The Witcher 2. The NPCs' hats and occasional pantslessness baffle me completely.

They just wander around, fully dressed except for having partially unraveled cloth diapers instead of pants, and nobody remarks on this or seems to consider it strange.

This game is not really Bioware does Game of Thrones. It's Bioware does Deadly Premonition.

p.s. SVC won't let Geralt get laid ever, poor guy.

It does sort of feel Polish in the same way that Deadly Premonition felt Japanese. The Tolkien references make me uncomfortable. The voice-acting is generally bad in a tolerable way. The writing varies pretty widely. The art direction is good. I actually like the wardrobe issues that Merciel mentioned. It makes me feel good that they are wandering around these medieval Shit Townes looking like idiots.

I like the underlying game a lot, and it's refreshing how much more responsive it is to the player's actions than DA, etc.

Geralt is the only one who gets half-decent voice acting. I guess Roche wasn't terrible either. (We've been in Vergen for about three hours, most of which were spent in the mines, so if there's anybody decent later in the game we haven't met them yet.)

Triss and Dandelion are the worst, it's like somebody just stuck a microphone in front of a couple of over-enthusiastic interns and gave them a stack of Red Bulls and let 'em at it.

On the first game I just turned on subtitles and read as fast as I could so I could skip through the audio as quickly as possible.

yeah I was gonna say, so much fantasy draws on Ye Olde Central and Eastern European Shit Townes and Shit Woodes, but it usually forgets just how Shitty they were

like, those hats are probably still worn today by Poles who live in a small village where there is nothing to do of an evening but drink

They're not even hats though, they're pillowcases. Occasionally velvet pillowcases. Or the rims of pie tins with the bottoms punched out.

The terrible noble costumes actually make me laugh more though. Here are people who have enough money to dress well, ostensibly, and yet this is what they pick: Two-Face jester costumes.

The sorceress with the pressed doily shoulderpads is another favorite.

Oh, and Crookytail LOVES the intro sequence (the swirly mist part with the music, not the shipboard cutscene intro). I need to make SVC put it on again so I can tape his reaction to it.
