i'm of course thrilled this is back and enjoyed every second of it, but something about it felt off. the pacing or something. maybe just that there were very few MAJOR PLOT DEVELOPMENTS made the whole episode feel like an hour and a half "remember this guy?" expose without giving me any real sense of where they're going with anything. have high, high hopes for the season though.

also, the lane-dolores phone scene and the megan cleaning sex scene both felt horribly awkward and weird and extraneous.

god why am i doing this

pretty sure the lane call was supposed to be awkward and weird and extraneous?

don't know why youd feel that way about the megan scene though

both had a pretty clear point

lane's scene established that even though he's got his marriage back together, the madison ave culture has left its mark

the scene with megan and don established that she's smart enough to figure out that don only wants what he can't have

seems like Megan is eventually going to get over her hypergamy and realize that Don is too different/apathetic for her

I think their Dick Whitman conversation is foreshadowing how his secret is not going to be safe with her for long

I felt the same way. I think I let the ending of last season trick me in to thinking there would be a major leap in the approach to this season and then to come back and find that its essentially the exact same situation with everything having inched forward just slightly was disappointing. The best moments of the episode just seemed like different takes on the same relationships/scenarios that have been established and explored enough as it was. Glad to have the show back though, just hope the whole season doesn't leave me with this feeling of treading water.

Hopefully they don't think this is an angle they can squeeze any more drama from.

they both were just uncomfortable to watch and not really in a good way. also the lane thing they could have gotten across in a different, less weird fashion. lane is clearly flawed like everyone else on the show, but stealing the little wallet photo and immediately turning on the awkward charm the second a woman answered the phone just didn't feel right for the character. went from run of the mill adulterous to creepy and i don't think that was the point.

megan is angling to get drunk at a dinner party and say "people arent always who they seem," pointing the feds in the direction of don, showing that she no longer gives a fuck

lane's always been a creep. i don't think anyone expected his supervillain father hitting him with a cane and making him be with his wife would change that

he's definitely always been a bit creepy, but i think the point is that now he thinks he's baller enough to act on those impulses and get away with it, except he doesn't know how and just kinda fucks it all up

i don't think it was as illuminating as the don/megan scene, but they're also probably trying to let us know that there's going to be a stronger focus on lane this season

gomez to be hired as a result of equal opportunity fiasco. he woos megan with his exotic flair, but once she slips, it's revealed he was in fact a mole all along.

does anyone know beyond Pete, Peggy, Betty and Megan?

seems like this could still wreck Don's life if the wrong person found out/acted upon the info
