biscotti, via the latin biscoctum, literally means twice cooked, as indeed biscotti are.

biscotti/biscotto is also the origin of biscuit, though most things we think of as biscuits — whether in the american sense or the british sense — aren’t twice baked.

The Macarena is a pop song from 1993 and not a traditional Southern European jig

Like, Mussolini's Armata Italiana weren't doing the Macarena as they starved to death in a Soviet prison camp

Well it's also a Spanish language song, so Mussolini wouldn't sing it for that reason too.

no it's like when you're in a cockpit and you push the joystick with the ball at the top as far as it'll go (to the wall)

When he sings "Planet Earth is blue and there's nothing I can do" he means there's nothing he can do about the fact that the planet is feeling blue, since he's floating 'round his tin can.

“Nero fiddled while Rome burned” means Nero was dithering, not actually playing a fiddle

oxidation doesn’t specifically involve oxygen in any way, it’s a process that happens to be named after oxygen because it was initially observed with oxygen (and oxygen is a common oxidizing agent)

The way I see it, he is just observing what he can see in front of him before passing out. It's also perhaps a reference to how insignificant he is in the grand scheme of things.
