i don't think i care anymore tho
JJ is a ridiculous self-mythologizer that frankly just kind of repulses me at this point

whatever i had enjoyed sonically about Chromatics material is now inextricably tied to JJ's laboured self-presentation/self-mystification to achieve those sonics, etc.

but then im also completely disenchanted w Koz for releasing like 5 records a year and seemingly not self-editing at all, so i really don't know what i want from my ... ahem ... Creatives anymore.

It's a good song, like all the other songs from Dear Tommy except Dear tommy

Where is the fall date coming from? I originally heard "this spring" from a past YouTube comment and an instagram post from today said "May 21" though it wasn't clear what that was in reference to (single or album).

well, look, in the meantime, he's put out a bunch of other awesome personal soundtrack stuff, as well as putting more priority on other musicians he's been working with and wanted to put on, that were sort of caught somewhere between the frustrating final mixing stage / actual finished product in the pipeline and tactful release scheduling timeline. all of that stuff can get extremely backed up, and complicated to juggle, especially with his prior contractual commission obligations, so I wouldn't get so uptight about an album you basically already have half of, that you know was destroyed once, so I'm not sure why you think he'd exactly be in a rush to redo an album he's obviously more happy either slowly working or moving on from to get his newer obviously inspired ideas out and also making sure his label mates careers keep rolling. Also, he's gotta make sure to have backstock in, because it fuckin moves. On top of all that, he's sending you 4 screened posters and probably a couple new mixed cds on top of that. Ya'll are spoilt rotten like what i assume the final dear tommy apple will look like.

Digital Rain + Windswept are amazing and way more compelling than Dear Tommy right now, which will no doubt be awesome if released, and i'm banking on its pending release totally contingent upon completely fucking insanely produced next level full spectrum dream disco shimmering gloss and sheen with new instrumentation that's completely blown widescreen HD, that'll have you all FUCKED UP.

I really love Chromatics and am guessing if Black Walls is on the album, In Films (which seemed uncharacteristic for them and shares very similar lyrics) was taken off.

Ergo, I'm wondering if we will be getting "the same album" as previously stated or if a substantial amount of the songs were reworked or even rewritten.
And I feel like this year is really about, just the year of realizing stuff.

Yeah Black Walls wasn't on the tracklist released a couple years ago, so that makes sense. Shame, I like In Films a lot better so far - that twee child voice at the start of BW is terrible.

In any event this is already one of those albums like Smile or VU where it's more fun to piece together your own version from the scraps that've been released than it is to get a final definitive version.
