I finished limonov's "It's Me, Eddie" over the weekend and found it surprisingly close to more classic Russian literature, despite all the long descriptions of masturbating while wearing his wife's tights covered in other men's semen or getting ass banged by a black man in a public park sandbox in new york. like the overall feel of the book still put it solidly in the tradition of dead souls and notes from underground and moscow to the end of the line, for me.

yeah he's all the rage or whatever. something like a russian vonnegut i've heard, but i haven't gotten around to checking out any of his books. what's it all about?

I just read generation P a month or so ago after seeing it referenced here and then downloading the movie

it's really good, just light-hearted and fun but in that russian tradition of tormented intellectuals laughing at this disgusting world

nothing like vonnegut, really.
it's about the post-soviet transition to capitalism and has a lot of mushrooms in it. it's like a trippy mtv-era mad men, except it obviously isn't.

had no idea there was a film, though, waldojeffers1. i will be watching that at some stage.
