Finally watching Battlestar Galactica

Jesus christ you have to be kidding me.

Postby starttomelt » Wed Feb 15, 2012 10:39 pm

Should I even do this?

This is probably the only "important (?) show" of the 00s i haven't watched yet and while I really liked the three hours-miniseries (watched it over the weekend) i already read so many bad things about the ending (especially here) that i'm not really sure if it's worth my time. So, should I do it?
leila came round and we watched a video.

you act like you have a choice

Awkward is a good word to say something about the critical situations which implies a strong feeling for anything.

The ending is really dumb but it's a fun show
I mean it gets retarded before the final episode itself, but not as unrecognizable as the last seasons of L O S T were from its peak

Never finished it, but the first couple seasons were fucking great. This show just built tension incredibly well in its early days.

First two seasons are amazing, I would recommend watching them if you can handle knowing that the last two are disappointing

Frankly watching the show as it aired probably made season 3 seem worse than it was

Yeah the first two seasons are about as good as televised sci-fi gets, so definitely watch them

After that it turns into just as much of a plotting clusterfuck as LOST was, but there are still bright spots. There's a two-parter in the last half-season that's really as good as anything in the show.

i also think that the ending is not the low point, and that the low point comes prior to that. so in a weird way the final part of the show feels like an improvement over some of the shittier stuff you had become acclimated to, although i don't know if this sense would kick in as hard when you're watching everything on the download as opposed to having to go week-to-week season-to-season

The low point was that arc in season 3 which centered around the fact that nothing was going on

The final ten minutes are absolutely the low point.

The boxing episode was bad
Also some other one right around it, investigating the criminal underworld or something
I liked the brief glimpses we got of the pleasure cruisers with the huge domed gardens and stuff in the middle. I might have dreamt that though

everyone hated the boxing, but to me Scar and Black Market were the worst episodes, and then that one with the pilot named Bulldog

i have erased most of the final season from my mind, i literally no longer remember how it ends, other than that scene where they're spying natives with binoculars or something

I would argue that killing Starbuck and bringing her back to life like 3 episodes later was dumb and obvious as well

I hated how the opera scenes in the S1 finale were made out to be this big thing and then in the final episode it was basically a hint to keep walking toward where you were already going or something completely forgettable

As great as Mary McDonnell was in this, I'll probably always think of her first as Independence Day First Lady

I'm with badvibes. I stopped watching it during a stretch in season 3, but I came back to finish it off. The standalone episodes in season 2 are the definite low points, but it just loses all momentum in season 3. The final season and a half definitely has its faults, but I willing to overlook most of them. The only part of the final I absolutely couldn't stand was the last scene.

There are a few of us out there that didn't mind the ending, so try not to let most people's hatred of it sway your decision.
