yeah emotional/life maintenance is surprisingly not a solid reason to stop drinking.

you still have to live the life that got you there, now without the solution.

everyone ive ever met who has said this has just been half-assed in every way. its easier to be friends with alkies who are on the wagon than with 1 drink/night people. what are you even doing? what motivates you to bother with alcohol at all? fuck you

i dunno. it's a very sad aspect of our nature, but also one of the foundations of love

it tastes good. being drunk is pretty boring and annoying, and only really useful for tolerating the company of other drunk people. luckily alcohol comes in a lot of delicious varieties.

I got old and dialed way back

0-2 during the week depending on how I'm feeling, 3-10 on weekends depending on how I'm feeling

prob average 1/night M-T, 5/night F-S

can see keeping this pace for the rest of my life

Gotten pretty good at taming myself during the week (preventing myself from even lighting the spark, I mean); I still turn into Oliver Reed most weekends though, just a fucking wreck.

i'm on my 5th or 6th real sobriety attempt right now. i think i'll feel better in a week but my life is pretty messed up right now and i've replaced alcohol with sleeping all the time.

but i just installed civ 4. never played a civ game. maybe that'll help.

I mean as it happens I live in Dublin, Ireland, and most of my drinking is binging once a fortnight on whatever off-brand spirits someone else bought at Aldi before going to a shit clubbe

but the main draw for me has always been it tastes good

I mentioned this in another thread, but back around the beginning of February, I just lost most of my desire to drink all of the sudden. I've never been a heavy drinker, but since I've been 21 (16 years) I've been pretty steady in drinking 12-20 beers a week. I've drank I think 7 in the past month. I don't know what happened or if it will last, but I just assume something short circuited in my head or I had some sort of mini-stroke.

Unfortunately my tolerance is so low and I drink such high abv beers that I can go from pleasantly buzzed to [uncomfortably] drunk really quickly

Two is the right amount as long as I've had something to eat. Three -- a full three -- now that's bad news.
