If 2 of the Elite 8 games are Cincy-Syracuse and Florida-Louisville, you might as well pencil Kentucky and the Midwest winner in the title game

I'm not saying they could do it all the time, but Louisville can beat UK.

The looked great tonight, but I don't think the "can" in your statement is really statistically significant, at this point.

plenty of teams can beat uk, we've just been fortunate to win more often than not. i'm hesitant to even think about final four matchups, we still need to get through a tough IU/Baylor/Xavier set of games. i do think we match up with louisville better than marquette/florida/michigan st. though.

As bas as I hate to admit it, Baylor probably has the best shot of keeping UK out of the championship game... they just won't.

Really? I guess maybe because I watched the UL/UK game and not any of the UK/UF games, but I gotta imagine in a rematch it would still be a close, tight game.

I dunno. Considering I figured it was a 50/50 chance of UL choking again in the first round, my mind is blown how well this team is playing/in the Elite Eight. I'm sort of slightly less nervous about Florida than I am MSU, but I certainly am not anticipating that game...

i agree, hopefully the fact that they can match our athleticism will be negated by the fact the scott drew is calling plays.

It's not so much him calling the plays, it's him not calling plays.

If they force the ball inside to PJIII, who can run Davis all around the court when he doesn't have the ball, they have a chance. Also, if Heslip makes 9 threes.

if someone comes out and gets really hot from three against us, then it was a fun ride. cal emphasizes that before a lot of our games..we can play the best d we can, if it takes someone hitting an extraordinary % from deep to win, so be it.

yeah, it may be close, but just like louisville, we win on the strength of our defense...and we are better at scoring than you are. mainly, though, i think it'd be easier to beat a louisville team that we match up with physically than a talented gator squad for the 4th time.

That's pretty convenient that maybe the best defensive team of the decade gets that excuse and when it happens to Kansas everyone calls it the worst choke job of all time.

You have Anthony Davis, college basketball Messiah, and an incredibly long, athletic team. You can afford to play tight perimeter D.

i've always thought of the UNI game against kansas as an amazing performance by UNI (fwiw, many uk fans feel this way) from the perimeter more than a KU choke job. believe me, most uk fans feel that KU was the best team of that year.

I think the point cal emphasizes is pretty valid, though..no matter how great the defense that you're playing is, if the other team happens to make shots just out of reach, you're shit out of luck. if hot perimeter shooting is why we end up losing, i'll be ok with it (eventually, hah).

I don't think it's entirely untrue, I just think it's a cop out, especially when you've got a once-in-a-generation good defensive team that can afford to cheat up on the three if someone gets hot.
