Here I was, all pumped about the Royals. Then, in a matter of weeks, Salvador Perez and Joakim Soria were down and 2nd base was platooned by Yuniesky Betancourt/Chris Getz.

It will be interesting to see how the Phillies rebound from the worst season in their storied history.

i'm glad the fanbase is no longer flattering the team with "world series or bust" sentiments, for what that's worth

How do you feel about this season? I think the pitching is going to be great but there is no way that lineup is going to provide enough run support to win games. Casey Kotchman was not the free agent signing I was hoping for. Brantley and Kipnis could have breakout seasons I think.

But there was Pineda on Sunday afternoon, touching 94 mph and hitting 93 on several other occasions. Was it the mid-90s fastball he threw in last year's first half? No, but there's time for that yet.

when you break down in May, I guess spring training is technically your "first half" though

cubs/rangers WS.
I was wearing a Far Side t-shirt when he came over. "I bet you didn't think I was the sort of person who wore t-shirts," I told him. (Our school had a dress code.) "I have three."

I could see how e-mailing the wrong person about sexy bathtime could be embarrassing.

I think the rotation will be alright. If (and when) someone falls apart in the rotation such as Lowe or tomlin, there's enough guys to cover for them. I don't have much faith in Brantley but I really like Kipnis, he's going to be great. Kotchman/Hannahan are going to be solid on defense with all of our ground ball pitchers. My worry is the bullpen not being as good as it was last year.

I am hoping for no less than 85 wins.

I don't think it's completely unreasonable considering they were 80-82 with a lot of injuries to core players last year. Vegas has the Indians pinned for an O/U of 78.5.
