That works.

Now to the matter of Winterfell...

I just assumed the bastard's army did it, maybe to blame it on Pyke or that family plans on betraying Robb.

If they tried to blame it on Pyke I assume Robb's first question would be something along the lines of "Where are their heads?"

It seems like the Iron Islanders burned everything before they left, but then where the fuck were the bastard's forces? No matter what the answer is about who burned down Winterfell that's still a bit confusing.

Given that the Pyke guys were counting on the Northerners letting them go I can't imagine they would have torched the place first.

ice zombies huh. i guess they sort of covered this a few episodes ago but it didn't really hit me until I saw them.

the defeat of the warlocks seemed a little slight. like 20 seconds to take these guys out.

they covered "ice zombies" in Season 1, Episode 1, Scene 1.

and again in mid season 1 I believe, when they tried to kill Jeor Mormont at the wall.

wights, they call them.

Also they seem to have completely fucked up the logistics of the battle, if Stannis was meant to be able to retreat. Did he swim back to his castle or just sort of wade along the coast?

book 4 was pretty good it's just about 1/3 of it was superfluous. and considering how much they're cutting per season, that alone will probably make it a tight season.

havent read 5 yet though but apparently most of that is just bad

I think HBO can deal with superfluous, as long as the overall story is still solid.

From what everyone said, the Theon at Iron Islands stuff from book 2 was painfully long in the books, but HBO managed to make it easily digestible.

no content spoilers at all: book 4 was for the most part excellent and book 5 was quite good if you could get past some wheel-spinning during a couple storylines which might not matter on screen anyway, the purely negatives are outliers (for book 5) and reprobates/scumbags (for book 4) generally speaking.

they covered "ice zombies" in Season 1, Episode 1, Scene 1.

wights, they call them.

there are actually two distinct types of ghoul involved here; the wights, which are reanimated human corpses (like the ones who went after mormont) that have standard zombies traits such as relentlessness and resistance to mortal blows. then there are white walkers, like the one in the first episode of the show, and the guy on the horse. they're evidently an elder, non-human, race-unto-themselves that are supposed to be freakishly tall, have shimmering magic weapons, and i think they have like a "cold touch" sort of power too

the books haven't been forthcoming with a comprehensive bestiary entry on either of them yet, and it took me until my second reading to even figure out that they were supposed to be two completely different things. but i think you're supposed to know that by this point in the narrative

women will think of you when their lovers are inside them!
I was wearing a Far Side t-shirt when he came over. "I bet you didn't think I was the sort of person who wore t-shirts," I told him. (Our school had a dress code.) "I have three."

I could see how e-mailing the wrong person about sexy bathtime could be embarrassing.
