I don't recall offhand (my knowledge of the Dany storyline is by far the fuzziest) but I really don't think that's how that encounter went down in the books.

Yes me too.

At that size it's pretty useless, so you can get the full size here: http://www.sermountaingoat.co.uk/map/index.php
or a direct link (recommend Right Click, Save As, since it's a 5mb file): http://www.sermountaingoat.co.uk/map/versions/speculative_map.jpg
Be aware that there could be some very minor spoilers if you read the text in the upper right, but after I read it, I didn't feel spoiled, and I'm usually pretty anal about stuff like that.
edit: OK, maybe a little spoiled. Don't read the last two paragraphs in the upper right if you want to avoid spoilers.
I didn't realize Vaes Dothrak was so far east. The title sequence makes it seem like it's just across the Narrow Sea.

But the guy who drew that map nodoubt did more research than a quick readthough of the series followed by forgetting most of it.

sky cracks open wrote:During the show, I kind of got the impression that they were heading west to the Narrow Sea in order to cross to Westeros, but it looks like they were actually going east to get more slaves and create a more powerful army... er... khalasar.

Not that this is a universally persuasive argument, but it does hold sway in some quarters.
