i have one i wrote a couple chapters of about 50's new york ab ex artists that are dopplegangers of actual guys like de kooning and pollack except they're not successful and they keep running into the real characters they're based off of.

the other one is a james purdy -esque gay pyschodrama. it's based on a gay couple i know who broke up but then were trapped in this intense jealously cycle where they had to sleep with whomever the other person was sleeping with and it ending up with them both becoming obsessed with a junkie bum who bit one of their fingers during sex and it got really infected and he was in a coma and he had to have some of his finger removed and it looks like a hideous talon now.

but i put those on hold and i'm doing short stories now.

those both sound inspired, like they could be great. Publishers want novels, not stories. Maybe you should stick with them.
