I offered him nothing but an empathic smile.

The guy had an amazing setup though, so I don't think he's gonna miss the money he lost. If he does then the dude should learn to use a hyphen in a title. Should I feel bad?

This detail caught my eye as well. It's still in the box though so maybe it was a backup?

Seriously, I spent twenty minutes thinking about this in a meeting a few weeks ago.

My theory: He has a regular turntable but wanted to get a USB turntable to rip stuff to his computer.

He listed it as "Project Debut turntable" instead of "Pro-ject Debut turntable" and that hyphen made a massive difference on ebay. He also didn't even list any of the extras he did to it, so he kinda screwed himself over. Got so much good shit for cheap by searching for misspellings on ebay.

Probably bought the portable so he could be "that guy" at the shows.

where do i get a shelf for my turntable

i dont want some dumb audiophile thing that costs $100 just a shelf that fits it nice, preferably from a place where i dont have to order online.

Have you considered Craigslist?

Actually, I haven't. And I will do a scan.

But more specifically I was wondering if anyone just knows a make off-hand that I could grab easily somewhere at like the container store. Originally I thought I could just get an IKEA Lack or something, but I didn't realize they were so small.

Although I dunno, putting it on a shelf isn't going to stop the cat from jumping on it, and increases the risk of him actually getting it to fall on the floor.

Honestly, get a small Expedit unit. They're only $50 and they look nice enough and can hold records.

Yeah, I use a http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90201688/ for my gaming consoles/Blu-Ray/TV, etc., and it's almost identical and about 20% of the price. :o

can anyone rec. a decent cheap-ish turntable/speakers, preferably one that also has an audio in jack?

i know next to nothing about vinyls but i have a big box of records i can't listen to, but i'd also like to be able to play stuff off my ipod if possible

not looking to spend like, thousands of dollars and get all worried about like, speaker stands and record needles made of some special glass or whatever. but i also don't want to get some crappy setup where i am going to want to upgrade in a year or something. i don't have a lot of room in my apt so i couldn't get huge 4' speakers either. are most record players with built-in speakers kinda junky?

sorry if this is annoyingly vague but i dont know anything about this stuff and have no idea where to start.

thanks!
Sorry I don’t fell love anymore. Don’t lock for me. I’l be good. I will try to pay you back. Thank x Everithing.

you should get something like a pro-ject debut III, a vintage marantz amp and some used bookshelf speakers. you could have a nice sounding setup for $500-$700, and it's all stuff that will last.
