gonna cross-post this here...anyone know this movie?

aububs wrote:i need help trying to identify a satanic movie..

it's based, i think, in a house and it ends with a shot of a big sort of goat-headed demon hell-beast snorting in the cold air outside the back door and i really loved that ending, it's an amazing shot and very scary. the movie just ends after we see this beast.Toggle Spoiler but can't really remember anything else that happens in the movie. it was possibly about a young woman who suffered family abuse or something?....it was recent enough, maybe about 2007/2008 or something......can anyone remember the name of this movie?!?!

been getting really into creature series for the Summer, just finished up Ghoulies last week. 1 and 2 are pretty wonderful, kinda similar to the arc in the first two Critters where the sequel changes to a broader setting and doubles down on alot of the fun elements

I was very stoked for Ghoulies Go To College, but this is where the series veers off hard and kinda goes into overkill. It's just like throwing everything at the screen, it feels like you're being machine gunned down with cuts to every college movie scenario possible, which I feel like is something I'd usually be into, but this just felt really overwhelming

Ghoulies 4 is like the weirdest vanity project with a Ghoulies name slapped on. 3 dropped all elements of Ghoulies mythology in favor of comic book prophecies and ancient toilet gags, but this one has the same actor as 1, but now he's like a grizzled cop somehow? And also there are no actual Ghoulies except in flashbacks that barely relate to the plot of the movie at hand, instead they just put some goofy monster make-up on two dwarves and decided to call them Ghoulies, and none of their scenes have any relevance or impact on the overall plot. This is a bad, very poorly made movie, but actually pretty confusingly enjoyable

Doing another double feature tomorrow night starting with Spookies, and then the first installment of what will be a comprehensive dive into the Tremors franchise

A Quiet Place is a great lookin movie with some fun enough suspense and a pretty dumb half-baked plot, but also the perfect movie to watch with a bunch of friends, cause you can basically just drink, talk through/make fun of it with buddies without missing out on all the great visual story telling. Fun casual drinkin horror night stuff

Ended up following this up with Tremors, which was fun in keeping the whole sound/monsters theme, and also goddamn Tremors is just one of the best movies through and through

Gearing up to watch a Cronenberg or two tonight in honor of Canada day. We've all seen The Fly a number of times and it's too summer-y for The Brood, thinking along the lines of Shivers, Rabid, Scanners or Dead Ringers, but can't remember which ones are in the dead cold of Canadian winter and which aren't

I see Stereo's in the dropbox, worth a watch?

What is everyone's scariest film, film that terrifies you in some capacity. Looking to get scared and feel pretty numb to that aspect of the genre.

These are probably more tense/unnerving than "scary" but

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
Snowtown
Kidnapped
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer

Hotel (2004) was interesting a slow burn for such a short film. I liked the concept keeping the viewer in the dark and just having a completely nebulous plot. A sort of masterful study in repetition. I really dug it but my friend was bored to tears so obviously not for everyone.
