Good question. Short answer: nearly all of them. But, if I had to pick favorites: Vampire Circus, Twins of Evil, Hands of the Ripper, The Devil Rides Out, Paranoiac, Scream of Fear, Quatermass & the Pit, Kiss of the Vampire, Brides of Dracula.

Some hype slowly building for V/H/S. New R rated trailer came out a few days ago.

When a group of petty criminals is hired by a mysterious party to retrieve a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere, they soon realize that the job isn't going to be as easy as they thought. In the living room, a lifeless body holds court before a hub of old television sets, surrounded by stacks upon stacks of VHS tapes. As they search for the right one, they are treated to a seemingly endless number of horrifying videos, each stranger than the last.
yowsah.

Rad. Glad you saw/liked it, iacus.

So last week I staged another moviethon, this time tackling 12 films starring Spanish horror hunk Paul Naschy in 48 hours. Seven of them were werewolf films. I've started howling in the vicinity of any bright, round light source, but I also found the time to write up a recap of my adventure. Please check it out at my blog if that sounds like fun: http://nessuntimore.blogspot.com/2012/0 ... olves.html

bump

A couple of weeks ago I watched 15 semi-obscure found footage horror films over the course of two days. I'm just getting around to writing about my exploits now because I've been barfing due to motion sickness ever since. Come read about the first three.

Guess [REC]³ is out there. Apparently they jettisoned the handheld look and it's a lot more self-aware/overtly campy this time around.

Also, I'm seeing a new 35mm print of Possession ('81) on Saturday.

Possession is being screened here as well on Sunday as a part of the Fantasia Festival, but as far as I know there's no English subtitles, which is potentially doable but irritating.

Other cool looking stuff playing at Fantasia:
Resolution
V/H/S
Miami Connection
Christiane F
Tokyo Drifter
Funeral Kings
Sleep Tight
Toy Masters

i don't remember possession needing subs but i've only seen it on TCM late at night and very high so my memory might not be the best.

down to see v/h/s asap. i thought i read the VOD release was soon. also is 'you're next' still stuck in the festival circuit? lot of good sounding horror waiting to be released.

Yeah, Possession is entirely in English.

VOD for V/H/S is in August sometime.

The website/programme says French and makes no mention of English subtitles, while other subtitled movies do.
I sent a tweet to Fantasia, maybe tomorrow I'll call the Cinematheque.

It's filmed in English. No lie. If they're showing it in French then they're showing a dub, for whatever bizarre reason.

Imagine Sam Neill speaking French. Let's all imagine this.

Oh, in other news I saw The Pact a few weeks back and it was so underwhelming I soon forgot I'd even seen it. A couple of neat stylistic flourishes weighed down by absolutely everything else. Most noteworthy scene is one where Casper Van Dien eats one of those ice creams that come in a cup with a flat wooden spoon.

Also, holy shit [REC]3 is the worst film I've seen all year. There's a major character dressed as a sponge wearing a bowtie and his name is Sponge John, and somehow that is the film's highlight. It almost has me feeling fondly about part 2.

Watched The Sentinel last night. It was decent, though there were so many scenes that seemed directly lifted out of other movies from that era. The Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, Suspiria, Satan's Slave. Though Suspiria came out the same year, and I dunno when Satan's Slave came out (I don't want to Google search that one at work). It had an interesting editing style, really disjointed you from your surroundings.

I remember there being something enjoyable about The Sentinel's crassness...such a blatant Christploitation money-grab you couldn't help but give it a slow clap.

Loved Possession when I had the chance to see it in the theater earlier this year.

Haha, I guess this was the same sentiment I had after the scene with the masturbating girl in the apartment and I turned to my girlfriend and said, "Well, it is what it is."

The Sentinel is boss. I want to throw a ghost birthday party for my ghost cat, too.

My foundfootageathon, Part 3, is up on the blog. I cover Zero Day, Paranormal Effect, and Road to L. Check itt: http://nessuntimore.blogspot.com/2012/0 ... ctrum.html

Not in this go-around, but it is one I've seen and liked. I recall it being a little too weirdly "cinematic" at times (having Adrian Pasdar as your lead doesn't help), and it stretches believability by having the parents take so long to wise up--though I suppose some parents are a little too forgiving about their kids' psychopathic behavior, huh? But, there's some undeniably creepy shit in it, and I'm a sucker for Bad Seed flicks anyway (it's a bonus that the kids are quite good, too).

yeah, it hurt that I had just watched it after The Children (nonTroma), so it was rough going by comparison... but I did like the kids and the late game escalation was effective.

how about "After..."? seen that horseshit?

"Featuring Music from The Crystal Method"

Never even heard of it. The trailer looks like an episode of Destination: Truth. Ugh. I guess I'll have to track it down...
I'm sure I'll regret it, but the completist in me says, "Thanks."

Part four of The Mighty Found Footageathon 2012. This time out, marvel at THE HAUNTED HOUSE PROJECT (2010), THE AMITYVILLE HAUNTING (2011), and APARTMENT 143 (2011). No ghosts allowed. http://nessuntimore.blogspot.com/2012/0 ... ctrum.html

Part 5 of the Foundfootageathon is up, bringing the proceedings to a close. I take a look at ALIEN ABDUCTION: INCIDENT IN LAKE COUNTY (1998), IN MEMORIUM (2005), and THE DEVIL INSIDE (2012).

It really annoys me that there are tons of good films this dude hasn't written up yet, but he normally wastes time with shit like Crater Lake Monster or the latest Corman Syfy joint.
