Somewhere buried in this thread, there's a story from the 17th or 18th century about a man (a soldier?) who mysteriously appeared in a different country and had no idea how he got there

I just Googled it and couldn't find it

Not the man from Taured, which is from a scifi novel that gets repeated as fact

I don’t know why it’s destroying me that Boston.com is running the missing skier story under the section header “skiing.”

apparently there's gonna be a lot of east area rapist/original night stalker media attention in the next couple of months

michelle mcnamara (patton oswalt's deceased former wife)'s book, tv series on multiple cable channels (i.d. and cnn/hln), and apparently law enforcement is going to put out information about some new leads (they already put this out recently: http://fox40.com/2018/02/02/sheriffs-department-reveals-new-leads-in-east-area-rapist-case/ )

27 pairs of severed hands recently washed up on the shore of a Russian island

All but one of the 54 hands were in a bag

I started Michelle McNamara's book last night

The EAR chapters, just one after the other, we're a lot to take in

It's also crazy how dark California in the 70s was. In this case, the Zodiac case, and the in case of the Doodler, you had multiple serial killers working in the same area at once.

edit: and Kraft, Kearney, and Bonin!
