yeah

interesting, I just broke out kaputt today

I think your blues is still my favorite but then rubies and kaputt ... he's only getting better

he never tours anywhere near the southeast, tho

the whole of kaputt is basically just 'the year of the cat' until bay of pigs.

which is, of course, fine by me

quality headphones + "notorious lightning" is a great combo

i'm also partial to everything about "certain things you ought to know" in headphones or good speakers or whatever. that is some gorgeous music.

Kaputt really made me go back to his older shit and enjoy it more

It's true he never tours here, I've only seen him once even with the pornographers and that was at lollapalooza

if i recall correctly this album earned him a lot of fans and was/still is considered one of his top 3 or so best by most people, myself included

it was so good that everybody (artist included) accused him of trying to replicate its success with Trouble in Dreams

I remember the MIDI orchestration on Your Blues just felt so weird and unapproachable to me when it came out back in '04 (the only other album of his that I had at the time was Streethawk), but I can't think of many albums that have aged as well as that one has for me.

edit: I guess it's more accurate to say that it took me longer that other similarly "challenging" albums before I grew into it. I probably listen to it at least once a week front to back now.
