this show fucking rules, still probably the best thing i've watched on (canadian) netflix

just the most heartfelt, non-condescending, genuinely challenging kids show where the stakes are always actually high, but you're always left feeling optimistic

gets better every episode and just keeps on rolling

Show is awesome. So disappointed that since the movie tanked so badly, there probably won't be any clamour for the proposed new seasons.

What was your beef with it? A lot of my friends loved the finale, I just kinda thought it wrapped up too nicely, and without any real like "what's gonna happen next season" tension at all.

I talk about it a bit in the korra thread. The neatness was part of it, plus the fact that it was so rushed, but the big complaint was that it was generally charmless. I don't know if I can really say exactly why, though.

I enjoyed the finale.

My only complaint is Korra's universe doesn't feel as complete. The appeal of Avatar was, thanks to three seasons and 61 rarely-wasted episodes, the totality of the universe and the depth of the characters. Korra is two seasons at 26 episodes.

that is a legit complaint, although they'll presumably get out of republic city in the next season and the rest of the world is sort of already built for them

Korra has been amazingly tightly paced, and I can't think of anything that would be worth cutting in favor of scope etc.

This show is unbelievable. I had the same feeling watching this as a 26 year old that I had watching the OG star wars trilogy as a 7 year old. Unparalleled wonder and perfect pacing. The characters are pitch perfect. Just about everything is perfect.

Yeah it has given me more like   moments than any other show in a long time, I just love the hell out of it. End of the episode when we're introduced to Avatar Roku was particularly awesome, plus the whole finale.

The most remarkable aspect is that it operates at the same extremely high level over three 26 episode seasons. I'm not sure of any show that lasts as long as it does without a dip in quality, whether its in the overall arc or terrible filler.

Only real filler in S1 that I noticed was the rival tribes crossing the canyon and that was just kinda dumb. Can't wait to do S2/3. Girlfriend got me hooked, now I'm getting her to watch The Wire so we do triple bills of Avatar followed by an episode of The Wire.

Man, it just gets better and better. Avatar is the only show besides TNG I can think of right now that had a legitimately excellent series finale.

The animation budget over the last four or so episodes had to be about 5x what it was for the rest of the show. It looks like a movie.
