THE BEST SHOW with TOM SCHARPLING

Let's talk Aguachile Alley

Knowing Adam Sandler movies and a vague understanding of the “grown ups” vibe certainly helps enjoy it. He nails everything about the tone.

I'm listening to this Chapo Trap House Safdie Brothers/Uncut Gems interview and Tom and the Best Show get a lil shout out in the first couple minutes. Apparently they (the Safdies) are fans.

edit: holy shit, the brother that plays the mentally challenged character in Good Time would called into the Best Show doing that character kinda testing it out?! i think i remember that

I never relate to Tom more than when he completely ignores his guests (and grinds the show to a halt) to look for an audio clip for an in-joke that only he will fully appreciate. I feel like this is the 3rd or 4th time that he’s done something like this, and it’s always hilarious.

I also never get tired of hearing the Tommy Stinson night replayed. Probably the best ep since I’ve listened regularly.

The guy calling in to promote the Michael Jackson story told from the perspective of the glove or whatever was really embarrassing. One of the first times I’ve fast forwarded in a while.

A lot of weird callers too. The guy saying you could watch every Tarkovsky in a day like that means anything lol

it's weird listening to all these current episodes with Brett Davis on them and references to him and talking about how he used to call a bunch when he was younger and I don't remember him at all

was he always doing characters and getting hung up on? did he become a normal weekly caller like Jason or Laurie? was he a little kid like Petey?

It was Jeff Feuerzeig but I don't think he has anything to do with it other than just really liking it? I couldn't tell if Tom didn't really want to talk about it or if he was generally low energy.

He was MC Steinberg. He also called in as a couple other characters over the years, I think, but Steinberg was his main thing.
