American Idiot (2004) sold 14 million albums

Jesus christ you have to be kidding me.

Postby Oroku » Fri Aug 17, 2012 4:00 am

nobody was buying albums back then either.
how many albums would that have sold if it had not been for mp3s? probably would have been bigger than rumours.

Its pretty rotten but give GD credit for striking at exactly the right time.

They were a joke and then they were the biggest band on the planet, just like that.

never in my wildest dreams would i have imagined a comeback from green day in 2003. you just gotta give these guys props for coming back the way they did. to release an album more successful than dookie 10 years later.

I kinda liked Insomniac, but I haven't heard it since like 8th grade so who knows

i remember the summer i broke down and bought Dookie after months of thinking they "blew" because some fat portuguese kid at catholic school that i hated liked them.

I spent the whole summer on my balcony listening to that album trying to learn guitar but having no idea how to play a chord.
I remember the nights sitting on the balcony listening to that album over and over waiting obsessively for this girl i had a crush who lived two doors down to come out on her balcony so that I could watch her.

It was probably the greatest summer of my life and all I did was search the woods for used condoms to throw at my friends and dirty porno magazines and listening to Dookie when I wasn't doing the former.
