Yeah McMafia hasn't been great so far. Haven't paid 100% attentiont to it, which hasn't helped.

finished the bbc howards end adaptation done by kenneth lonergan last night

shame it wasn't expanded to more than 4 episodes, at times it felt rushed, but it was really good. very well cast and lonergan captured the heart of the source material well. he's a dab hand at a gut puncher.

I guess it's interesting enough. The premise is ridiculous obviously. Only 10 mins into the second episode because I missed the start before.

Derry Girls is just alright.

Been watching Inside No. 9, which is alright. Somehow never knew about it so only seen this series. Anyone watch? Are the other series any better?

The second is the best, imo. The third is most consistent maybe, but none of the episodes reach the peaks of two.

Speaking of Irish TV... the young offenders TV version is one of the best things I've seen in ages.

Absolutely hilarious and surprisingly moving.

Waiting for the last ep.

Collateral is pretty decent. Maybe a bit too 'old dude writing about what he thinks modern Britain is' I guess. His Page Eight/Turks & Caicos/Salting The Battlefield was great though.

Carey Mulligan's speaking voice is just great.

i watched the first series of detectorists recently

my god I found it so dull. I get that it has a sort of relaxed, undemanding, parochial, chill vibe but...no

I did watch the whole series tho, but then when the first ep of the second series was the dullest one yet, I checked out

Thought Collateral had some elements that could elevate it above the usual fare. In the end a few too many dumb/obvious characters and the Labour dude's relationship with his ex-wife was.. not a satisfying plot. So more or less typical British crime show stuff, but that's what I grew up with and still kinda catnip for me.

Good role for Mulligan though, I would totally give her the detective inspector job after watching this, knowing she's an actress, and feel comfortable about it.

Anyone watched the James Acaster specials on Netflix?

Best stand-up I've seen in a while.
