Insane people keep calling me crazy.
Children keep telling me to grow up.
Sleepwalkers keep telling me to wake up.
Self-deceivers keep calling me a liar.
Sexually repressed people keep calling me a slut.
Immoral people keep telling me that I'm going to hell.
Idiots keep telling me that I need to go to college.
Miserable people keep telling me that I am sick.

Think I'd be used to it after 24 years.

hope this is how he announced his birthday on facebook

So... it's vexing. Because I'm still in that clumsy stage of finding the right medium, and I know that what makes the art good is that it is gotten right away- without any need for any explanation.

here is his breakdown of this magnificent piece of art!!!!

Another aspect that I was going for is that we always kill (literally and/or metaphorically) the external manifestations of our collective conscience. Imagine all of humankind as two children squabbling over something petty, Jiminy Cricket popping up and saying "hey, let's work together guys!"- and they do, in squashing Jiminy. After realizing the horror of what they've done, they /do/ start listening to what he said- and they are so afraid of being found out when Mom and Dad come home, they turn his corpse into an idol and start worshiping it.

I was also trying to add the scientific angle to the idea, hence why it wasn't a cartoon version of Jiminy Cricket- the intention being that dissecting the messenger is also just another way not to listen to the message.

I was wearing a Far Side t-shirt when he came over. "I bet you didn't think I was the sort of person who wore t-shirts," I told him. (Our school had a dress code.) "I have three."

I could see how e-mailing the wrong person about sexy bathtime could be embarrassing.
