dvr that's awesome. I was on top of Static a couple summers ago but I don't think we did Buck. Really want to go back to the Tetons.

might buy a trad rack. it seems foolish for me to not go into this wholeheartedly given how much i like doing it. really one of the few things that excites me about life right now.

super cold out means it is time to go bouldering outside! was in the 30s when this picture was taken on Friday and I kept wishing it was colder.

yeah that photo turned out pretty good. it was hard to get an angle that didn't make it look like a slab.

i've been bouldering a little in MT.

just went to the gym for the first time in maybe a year. feel great. i really took my time there and took a lot of 5-min breaks. i mostly avoided any overhanging wall.

ignorant question, but do you get a good winter climbing season at lower elevations in MT? i just assumed it would be too cold / snowy for much climbing. but i also climbed all winter when i lived in MA and CO so obviously it can be done.

rock climbing, no, not so much. there's snow most places except some heavily accessed south facing stuff. i'm not the best goto MT source of info though. i'd say it's harder to climb year-round here than in CO.

was planning to have a fun day of bouldering and drinking beer near home last week but it rained unexpectedly so we had to bail to the hard sport crag (Little River Canyon) and a wall where it stays dry basically all the time. Place is sick. Unfortunately the warm-up at this spot is 11a and I'm not a strong climber but the good news is that the 11a warm-up is an awesome route and close enough that I should be able to get back to it and try to send it at some point.

in my hometown in southeast PA for the spring and summer and an old, good friend of mine and I both independently got into sport climbing while I was away, been great reconnecting with him and planning trips together even if the weather hasn't been cooperating :D

I'm thinking about going to the new river gorge to help with their trail maintenance event in may to meet people and learn more about the crag, hopefully get some climbing in too

That all sounds awesome! Climbing is the best!

Leaving for Moab tonight. Stoked for some sandstone even if California granite has turned me soft. Going to get so pumped! Haven't been on a rope for almost 6 months!
