Gorky is awesome. OST / mood is superb and it blends survival horror resource management with turn based combat that has some puzzle elements really well.

Fairly brief as well, don't think it's any more than 10h or so so it never wears out its welcome

could anyone recommend me a game, I can never figure out what I like.

my fave games that i've played a lot are the kotors, wow and dead space i think. what i'm mostly looking for is single player, very much story based, and preferably with a party system, or some level of character arcs similar to the kotor games

in other news maybe ill play ogret battle 64 to see what all the hullabaloo is about (and NOT shadowrun)

i bet they're playing feh. i bet this for no reason

ogre battle 64 is a very good game i think although i have only played one hour of it in the past 17 years. i totally forgot its battles were basically auto-play too, which makes me feel all the more incentivized to make my own version of it

I'm playing MOBQ and if the battles weren't autoplay each stage would take 10 hours. I actually like the auto battle w/ small human input but could stand for there to be more nuanced tactics - something like the gambit system from FF12 (another Matsuno jam - there's something about this guys games that scratches a very particular itch).

This game looks like it was made for me (and Jeremy Parish):

since you obviously liked rage, how do you feel about the shift in style?

It looks like it's taking the best from Mad Max and Borderlands so I'm down for sure. I didn't much care for Rage 1, though.

But I'm sure they'll fuck it up somehow and I wont have to worry about the triple-A price tag.

rage shouldn't be taking any notes from borderlands. the last thing it needs is more rpg creep. and it certainly didn't need a massive open world, either. if anything it was crying out for deeper interiors

I mean, the best from Borderlands would be the not-so-serious-dystopia veneer. I hope they don't make it some stilted FPS Diablo, either.

i mean the first game's already got that vibe, though. and it didn't have to go all imagine dragons music video to get there

if rage's style is loosely mad max and thrash, rage 2's is burning man and a ton of edm

tonally it seems off and it definitely looks too visually clean/sterile, but I really dig the prospect of id gunplay in an Avalanche sandbox, a la JC2, so that's what I'm hoping it is.
