Ignoring a game's lore and story to fit my desired narrative is one of my top 3 things to do in games.

do not dive deep into elder scrolls lore as it posits your player character is part of a simulation. this is not a joke.

IS THIS A JKOE

Favorite things to do in gaming:

#1 - Building shit
#2 - Making spreadsheets
#3 - Ignoring a game's lore and story so that the game fits my desired narrative better
#4 - Heavily criticize a game i probably didn't pay for for not fitting my narrow definition of what is desirable in a game
#5 - Ragequitting a game i've put hundreds of hours into and calling it complete worthless bullshit

I can't skip cutscenes

even the world's demonstrably worst cutscenes

I wish I could sometimes, but I cannot

I feel deeply obliged to watch them. it's not an obligation to the writers or the developers or anything, just to ... narrative? I have to honor the existence of the narrative, even when it is bad.

like, I purely enjoy coordinated button pressing to complete actions in 3-d mediated space to achieve fleeting satisfactions as much as the next person, and I don't mind if there's no context for the button presses. but if there is a context, I have to acknowledge and understand it. I have to, chimp.

I know this is gonna sound insane, but does anyone here have GTX 1080 who hasn't bought Destiny 2 and wants to play it?

I have a copy laying around that I'll sell cheap but I'm pretty sure you have to have a 1080/Ti for it to activate

(Thanks Nvidia)
try the data then reply

oh yeah i mean regardless of what i think of story i always watch all cutscenes though.

Listen, im the person who HAS to sit through the ending credits and if you have tried to sit through a modern's game credits, let me tell you some AAA ones take 45 mins. Not a joke, one of the Arkham was 45 mins long, i timed it. The thing is i think i had a game not too long ago that beat it but i cant remember which. GTA V? not sure but i think i had a like 55 mins one some time. It's completely ridiculous.

voice acting is where I draw a sharp line. I will turn it off 90% of the time unless it's incredibly polished AAA stuff like Witcher 3 or Destiny 2.

nothing pulls me out of a game faster when I've scaled the 1,000 Steps of Ashlanok or whatever to finally stand before the Last Steward and when he opens his mouth it's just some made-for-TV Californian twerp who voices a dozen other chars in the game, and he never knows which word to stress in the line.

voice acting is literally why I can't play Divinity: Original Sin.

my fomo is strongest when i'm playing a game, in that i know my time is better spent reading almost any book, so i have a hard time sitting through any extended dialogue or writing. i think i just want a world that i've bought into well enough and fun mechanics

people cite the baron story in w3 as an example of good game writing but i could not care less

yeah, shadow of chernobyl with the zrp mod

I bounced off hard on that early mission where you repel the attack in the junkyard but I was playing way too aggressively. looking forward to spending a lot of time with it.

I think I'm finally done with Witcher 3. There's a bunch of side quests I need to do in Skellige still which I'll probably wrap up tonight but after that it's all over.
