there's only about one acre of desert in black desert online

surly wrote:and its fucking blue, not black

That factual?

I just assumed the part east of Mediah was all desert. Altinova is as far east as i went.

I actually didn't think it was either blue or black, just your regular brown desert. That's what some of the title screen pics showed anyway.

with all this bucole almost forgot to mark the 25th anniversary today (actually im not sure about date, only one site could give me more than the month and the day they gave was 15th) of a classic game that has zero bucole

Image

This game was seen as a competitor to Wing Commander but really the guys behind it were more interested in taking their combat flight sim experience and just putting it in space. It's definitely one of the best SW game to this day, and the first and last one to do Star Wars space combat right (well i mean Tie Fighter is kinda the sequel anyway). I'll admit i never finished it because halfway through the game there was an escort mission that was just #%&(%&@(#%@(%#&@#$%, your wingmen doing absolutely nothing worthwhile and forcing you to do everything yourself. I would say that was perhaps a flaw of that game, some missions there was really only ONE way to win it and you had to do it over and over until you learned it but also count a little on luck. anyway my brother persisted and i got to at least watch him play through the rest of the game and destroy the death star.

I still occasionally quote the "you MUST register" and "you may proceed" droid to this day.

i love trails

having had to suffer through the prologue, like, five times, i also grew very attached to naive alf and sharp-tongued kiki and want to see them in cs3. and of course, badeaux needs to be a playable character. also fishing is bucolic.

I just got the notifications for the Steam sale prices and realised The Forest is still on my wishlist. Games been in Early Access for 4 years and they're still talking about the "plans" for full release. Then again Rust only finally made it out like a week.ago.

the order is

Trails in the Sky (FC)
Trails in the Sky Second Chapter (SC)
Trails in the Sky Third

Zero no Kiseki*
Ao no Kiseki*

Trails of Cold Steel
Trails of Cold Steel II

Trails of Cold Steel III*

*not yet (officially) localized

the Crossbell arc (Zero/Ao) takes place contemporaneously with the Cold Steel arc, and the events of the two series reference one another

Kenny, you of all people not having played these is the weirdest thing

trails is so good. the additions of trial chests and (semi-)optional dungeons is real neat

Image

look at the size of this lad. absolute unit. the elliot + fie jp voices are real good.

but one of the upcoming bosses is so nasty. i've wiped about 10 times already to deathblow and faint and i can't even get them to 40%, let alone accomplish any of the bonuses

there's pretty heavy references to crossbell which makes me feel like i'm missing out

cold steel was designed to be an easy entry into the series, but a lot of people say you're missing out if you don't play sky first (i don't necessarily agree)

you are definitely missing out, especially if you haven't played Third.
