anyone got We Happy Few?
I see it's a $50 game but I dunno it looks like a $30 game despite its nice graphics, is there more content than I think?
Maybe the early access and 'procedurally generated' (i.e. repetitive, shallow, and bulked out by crafting, to take a curmudgeon's view) factor has besmirched it for me

but i said something about great graphics and animations and all that. If i don't care about that i can find my fun in current survival games. Shenmue 3 though maybe.

I got Shenmue when it came out, and was super excited to play it. Then I think I got to a part where I had to drive a forklift or some shit, and realized that it was way too close to my own dry existence at the time, and I never played it again. My life is still empty, though, all these years later. You win, Shenmue!

Shenmue becomes pretty epic when you get to the second game, though you still do stuff like run a gambling game on the street and air out books. It’s a very balanced experience. The rereleases aren’t going to be significantly different but I haven’t played either game in a long time so I can’t wait to dive back in and get psyched for 3.

Yakuza 0 is fun but wow is the dialogue superfluous and repetitive at points. like, a character repeating the same thing three times in a roundabout way, as if they think you're slow or something (despite both characters being obviously sharp).

also not a fan of there being, like, 40-minute segments of a massively long cutscene followed by a big battle scene and another long cutscene, without the ability to save at any point until you're done with this hour-long bit. had to hop off last night and kept telling my wife for an hour "uh, I have to find a save point, but I'll probably have to finish this mini-film and go into a battle scene first."

great fun apart from that though and certainly worth the $15 i paid. i just wish dialogue was less repetitive. i find myself scrolling through a lot of it because it's literally a character saying the same thing in three different ways.

yeah, i loved this game but i don't think i could have played it if it weren't on a console where i could just suspend whenever.

Anyone play the demo of valkyria chronicles 4? I want to play (looks like your progress carries over to the full game), but something about the rhythym of getting real into the beginning of a game and then it stopping abruptly for six weeks feels like it would frustrate me.

I finally got halfway into caring about wasteland 2 after buying it ages ago so I guess that'll tide me over for awhile anyway.

Yakuza 0 definitely has a lot of looooong cutscenes that disrupt the main story, but that's why you spend all your time on all the other stuff and then dive into a chapter every once in a while. That's how I played it. I spent way more time messing around than I did on progressing the main story.

---

I found No Man's Sky both overwhelming & repetitive at first, but for some reason each hour is getting more & more hooked on the repetitive gameplay loop. I think there's enough there to keep me motivated to see it through to the end. Don't think I can spend time just collecting flowers and visiting a thousand planets, but I'm definitely into the objectives.

One of the greatest aesthetic achievements of modern gaming for sure.

Even the Saturn prototype looks incredible.

Yu Suzuki's games all look incredible.

Prey's pretty cool (especially the EVA parts), but I'm just not feeling the thrills and chills I thought I would

I jumped once or twice because something crept up on me and [spoilers], but on the whole it's way behind sys shock 2, soma, etc. in that regard

yes, this is exactly how im playing and it seems like it's how it should be played

it's like there are two separate games going on. normal life yakuza and tons of shit going down in one week yakuza

it doesnt make sense that you can spend 30 hours playing outrun and doing telchat while everyone's trying to kill you but alas i have no problem with that at all
