"A 3.0 generation tour kid who is in heart and soul a 1.0 on the scene, and on particularly wild nights at 3 in the morning acts like a 2.0 kid"

edit: to be clear, NOT talking about Bella. Just riffing on the eras

I realize the article talks about her going to shows, but "3.0 tour kid" is a bizarre way to describe a band member's daughter. Like sure, just another tour kid selling grilled cheese & doses to get to the next show. Other than that I don't see anything wrong with the article?

Watching Antelope Greg and his crew used to irritate me, but seeing them get just as hyped landing airplanes to like Yarmouth Road or the Line as they to YEM or Paug made it clear that inhabit a deranged alternate reality that can't possibly intersect with my reality or showgoing experience at all.

I've gone my whole show-going life having no first-hand interactions with any of these front area monsters. except i work near penn station/msg so last summer I'm assuming they were the ones outside on 8th Ave at 7:30 am when i was starting my work day.

I dunno it seems like a real chill way to spend sat morning after partying all night, stick around up close for the early set then meet your pals for the rest of the night. Taking a morning and early PM off to sit in a field for six hours pre show on the longest phish day of the year seems like a good strategy.

Yeah you already talked me out of it a while ago but I still like the idea

Maybe I'll do the 5k with you this year, how'd you manage being all sweaty and gross the rest of the weekend?

Planning on doing the 5k too, I figure I'll crash for awhile at camp afterwards until the shower lines die down. How hard do you think it would be to run 5k (in the right direction) on shrooms? I'd like to get a poster at the fest but it's just too much time out of the weekend. There's some talk in our crew too about trying to get close for the afternoon set. I guess if a bunch of your group goes together you're basically doing what you'd be doing at the campsite (ie sitting around getting baked & bullshitting), just in a different location and with less shade?

I'll race you motherfucker AND play first tuba in the parade! (Actually I'm pretty slow, but I don't drink at phish shows, so I figure I'll at least be faster than the really hung over people.)

To whatever extent possible, it would be great to all camp near one another and take up a nice big piece of land. Never would have thought there would be an actual Hipinion contingent at a fest...I'm totally looking forward to spending time with this group that weekend.

I'm stoked as hell for the 5k. When I run, I'm typically a little baked so I feel like this one is definitely in my wheelhouse.

I can't fucking wait is what I'm trying to say.

SO I’m down in Longboat Key Florida for my sister’s wedding, staying at my parents’ place on the gulf, and I had this crystal with me that my friend had gotten me when I was struggling with some things a few weeks ago. I had had it next to me while reading the last few days, soaking in the sun. I’m not a crystal dude, but I like to keep things like that as personal totems.

Anyway, I was rocking the 11/17/97 Ghost, one of my very favorite jams, and getting a little sunned out, so I decided to take a quick dip in the ocean before going to lunch up, but I kept the crystal in my hand and went in to float around for a few minutes while listening to the jam. Suddenly this fucking manatee just APPEARS next to me, and I walked along side it, about 10-15 feet away from me for a few hundred yards down the shore. It was incredible.

I don’t like to firmly read causality or mysticism into these types of things, but.. sometimes it’s real hard not to ;)

Dude that's beautiful.

FWIW I think the mystic shit is real on some level but is incompatible with causality.

And it totally sounds like a story Trey would tell at an acoustic show:

"...so I ran back to shore as fast as I could, and I wrote this song. This one goes out to that manatee!

Well everyone's together on a
soul planet..."

When I first read the story about the manatee and the crystal in your grasp, it immediately conjured the lyrics to Esther in my mind. And I was expecting some kind of culmination of serene, accepted loss at the end.

Happy it worked out though!
