I'll seriously look into it, though I'd get so much grief from my gf

I've actually got her to enjoy Grateful Dead on occasion but Phish is still strictly a no

full disclosure: just because Mike Gordon and I go to the same coffee shop does NOT mean I have any influence over tour dates

and if I did I'd get them to play Little Rock

I was looking up the time signature of "Fire on the Mountain" and found this article which explained the "meatstick" joke someone made recently that I did not get.

http://www.tomorrowsverse.com/story/dead-sounding-phish-a-song-analysis-comparison-23982.html

I could not find an answer, but I think it's just 4/4
I was thrown off by the fact that the chorus isn't a full 4/4, it just completes the verse.

or something.
i'm dumb about music.

9/12/99 - deep, dreamy, enchanting, mystical
9/22/99 - blissful, triumphant, celebratory
& 10/1/99 - pulsing, fierce, edgy

are all brilliant Bathtub Gin’s I’ve listened to this week.. i dont think i could pick a favorite year for that tune at gunpoint... 98.. 99.. 00.. 03...

been spending a lot of time on early fall 99 the past week or so, since the mellow, upbeat, happy (or deeply trancey) jamming just screams spring to me..

some recent and/or re-discoveries:

9/9/99 - this complete show has like 5 jams and they’re all total stand-outs.. this show has the energy and set list profile of a fall 95 show, but the song selection and jamming are a pure distillation of fall 99!

9/12/99 - a very good listen-through as well.. in addition to one of my very very favorite Bathtub Gin’s ever, the 30 minute Ghost is the less dynamic older brother and precursor to the 9/14/99 AC/DC Bag the next show

10/7/99 - Mike’s > McGrupp > Prince Caspian, Golgi, Weekapaug is great... a pre-Nirvana YEM tease segues the Mike’s into a fantastic McGrupp

10/8 & 10/9/99 - everyone should know the suuuper chill Halley’s > Tweezer and Ghost -> Free from these shows, but everything else is fantastic as well (Piper, Hood, Limb, 2001...)

9/22/99 - the whole second set is great and well-constructed, but the Ghost especially blew me away

9/17/99 - this Cold Rain and Snow w/ Phil Lesh is totally blissful.. I can’t remember the last time I had listened to the Bass Jam out YEM between Mike and Phil, but it’s quite lovely... even as a bass player I wouldn’t figure two basses could duet so nicely

The 30 seconds where this turns into the best Hood peak since the 90s are something else.

Carini and Blaze On are probably a tier below the other six (need to relisten to that DWD, which I remember being high on but haven't heard since the run), but yeah there's nothing there I can argue against as a consensus pick.

Can't really argue with any of those as JOTY. I was riding for Crosseyed until falling hard for the 8/6 Simple recently. Fishman's cowbell/woodblock during the transition to major, all the great crowd roars. I love when the crowd just cheers for a jam, not for a lyric or because the white lights came on at the peak, but because all four band members just locked in together and everyone in the room felt it click at the same time.

CDT or simple 1... simple 2 was one of my favorite moments from this summer tho, and the NMINML / Everything suite would be top 3 if it could count for me
