Yeah, I tend to be pretty introverted sometimes at shows by myself, but fuck it, I'm already gonna be in Vegas and if I'm in the city and there's a Phish concert happening and I'm not at it, I'll be pissed at myself.

Musically the shows were kinda average but it was a fun trip and I'm glad I got to see Phish again after the Curveball debacle. This year doesn't live up to the heights of 17 yet but that was inevitable, I'm sure it would've been foolish to expect 2000 Phish to match the Cypress experience as well. I am looking forward to a NY run with the benefit of a fall tour, not to mention the Halloween mystery.

First set was excellent, obviously the CDT (clunky entrance and exit to the jam aside), but I'd be as happy to hear Steam every show as I would be to never get another Julius. Thought the wheels fell off after Light, and that and Mercury were considerably less weird/satisfying on tape this morning than I found them last night; curious to hear how the Set Your Soul Free holds up. Also can't say I understand their fondness for playing sloppy versions of Birds that go nowhere in that slot in the second set.

I said the same thing about Birds during the show! Also they played it in the wrong key apparently. Spirit Family packed a lot into a fairly short jam though, I dug it and Chalk a lot. Steam has been so great since the BD version.

Birds is the most played song of 3.0 that I've never gotten and at this rate that's fine with me

I'm very happy with that Tuesday show though

I thought both shows were quite solid.. Tuesday above average for the year, Wednesday average-good, had great highlights and some very good jamming, but was less of a through-played affair

I continue to enjoy 2018 more than 2017 in that I like their overall sound better right now.. it’s smoother, groovier, more patient, more varied... Mike and Page are blowing my mind on the regular, and Trey’s tone is just perfect right now.. and I saw a lot more shows in 2017 than this year too. Trey’s also surprising me a lot more with the notes he’s playing and the melodic twists and turns he’s taking.. 2017 may have the longer list of standout jams at this point, and the Baker’s Dozen may still be the best thing since IT or Cypress, but I think they’ve overall just reached a really fantastic plateau, and I hope they can stay atop it for a while....

all hail empty nest Trey.

I strongly agree with that re: ‘18 v ‘17 sound, which surprises me given my depth of experience last year. But I don’t think I place Albany as favorably within what happened this summer. That could change

Jam of the year material there. Next person to ask me why I've seen the same band 38 times I'll play them that jam. (It'll be very awkward.)
