good call. it should be a go-to set 1 closer.

that said I was getting a little setlist fatigue as we rolled along this fall and Im glad they got to If I Could, Lifeboy, and Guyute in Vegas.

Wanted a Seven Below so bad at Vegas, or at any point. Love that song and the ensuing jams.

hey eyeball kid since you're still poking around I'm curious if you've tried out some of the bigger improvisational moments of theirs. or are you still coming at it tethered to the studio albums?

There's been no method to how I've been going about this. Pure whim, like when over the course of a couple of days I listened to a pair of 12/29 shows solely because that's my birthday.

12/29 has gotta be a top ten date for quality phish shows over the years, along with 12/30, the third weekend in August when most of their festivals have happened, what else - 10/31?

My birthday is in January so there's just the one early 90s show with an unknown setlist.

Folks I’m almost through Vegas and I think on the whole I’m grading summer substantially higher in terms of synergy and moments. Not that I think fall was a step back. It was great and we’re moving forward. But they didn’t really string together jams as seen in LA or Alph and the highs weren’t as high.

yea summer checks more of the boxes that you want to be checked, but from the last phish.net write up:
For those of you who clicked through to the rest of my ramble, this show, like this tour, has a lot to unpack. Do that at your leisure. Listen repeatedly. All I ask is that you pay attention. Don’t believe your preconceived notions and just try to hear the notes they aren’t playing. A lot of what used to matter (song selection, placement, flow, depth and breadth of jams, frequency and severity of flubs) is now irrelevant. For the first time in a long time, I can say with unequivocal certainty, Phish is BACK! Every song played, whether you like it or not, has at least one bite of deliciousness to savor. So let’s dig in to our final plate from the buffet.

I mean at this point I’m not about to throw my metrics out the window. But before MSG I will go through the whole tour again and explore what, if anything, I feel like I’m missing.

Setlist construction and flow might've been more consistent in the summer, but I think the fall had more highlight jams.

No matter how many years phish keeps playing, somebody's still gonna say "Phish is back!!!/4.0!!!" every time they play a good run, aren't they? Mr. Miner proclaimed it like once a month while he was still reviewing shows.

Fall 16 was a big step up from summer 16 and they've been on a tear since then, I buy that.
