I wish I knew Cherry's personal shopper, it wouldn't be hard to convince him to wear a Fishman patterned suit jacket. Not that we'd want that pattern on a national symbol for xenophobia I guess.

I'm happy to report that my experience in Camden was considerably better than any time i'd been there. Riding the ferry was a big part of that, skipping all the traffic and confusing chaos before and after. There were no bathroom lines or booze lines (although long booze lines would have helped my night) And I even had a lot of dancing room at the very front of the lawn, and the sound was wonderful. I didn't feel that lawn claustrophobia that I felt at well attended shows.

stupid booze.

Well I had a very nice time at the BB&T Pavilion last night. It was smelly and extremely hot under that roof. I enjoyed seeing Guy for a spell.

Thought they stretched all those first set type 1 to their absolute limit to then blow out the gates off with the Everything’s Right. Also was hearing a lot of kinetic rolling 93-style jamming in the carini and split (my first). Don’t remember the specifics of the Soul Free, but I liked that too.

The 93 sound I was hearing was probably from a really punchy Mike. He was really driving

Guy just called me from the concourse... he didn’t really have anything to say, just that it’s miracle that so many thousands of people are able to navigate such nonsense relatively unscathed

Ha I forgot about this. Felt like I was on autopilot heading to the bathroom at set break and had an out of body moment seeing myself in this mass of spun people all miraculously not just constantly bumping into each other and falling down.

you know I've had a theory that you've had a smart phone for years and have just been keeping it under wraps

and another more likely theory that when you finally got one you wouldn't tell anyone, which would eventually make my first theory correct

I have an old iPhone that's not activated as a phone that I can hook into free wifi with! I usually just use it for commutes/exercise

ANYWAY last night was a ton of fun. Franco was cool to hook up with you for a bit, sorry I didn't make it back from shakedown before you guys started for the venue, the crowd was nuts in there and very tough to navigate. Also that was definitely the hottest phish show I've ever been to, holy shit that parking lot was scorching. Eating a huge bowl of ramen before rollibg in was a weird choice in that regard. And I'm with jewels that the ferry was super easy and pleasant, all venues should have ferry access.

Last night was probably my favorite songy show that I've seen. I really am ok with shorter jams so long as the songs are well chosen and flow well/are conscious of the energy created, and that was definitely the case last night. Nothing felt like it ended too early and every song played made sense. I SORT of wish they had gone either yem/lope/fluff to close set two cause the crowd was hungry for a real blaster of a song after melt and those would have torn the roof off. But I like Zero fine and that's the only thing close to a complaint i have. Great show, at least two relistenable highlights, would go again.

that really was a fantastic Melt... gonna listen back the last handful in 16 & 17, see if there was a trajectory to the song that I had missed

like Stash earlier in 3.0 I had been enjoying the jams themselves for a while (I don’t dare listen back to those 09 Melts tho..), but there were VERY few versions in this era that had fireworks endings OR type 2 diversions in lieu of that.. 10/12/10, 7/6/13..? MPP had a good one in 13 or 14?

VHG I just had a crazy nap fever dream where I was looking after your apartment for a few hours because you had an outlet that was making noises and you didn’t want it to burn down.. I pulled a Vonnegut book from your bookshelf to read, fell asleep, and drooled on your couch. I’m sorry.

also you had long black swooping hair for some reason, but it was definitely you.

also it was your bed I drooled on, I don’t know why lied about that if it didn’t really happen. but in the dream I didn’t want you to know I was not only reading on your bed but drooling on your pillow.

joke’s on me though - the whole time I was napping in my bed and drooling on my own pillow.

Utica was really the big Melt story of 3.0 forever wasn’t it?

My gut says these two 2018 versions are descendants of Coventry somehow

some of the things I’ve got as festival essentials are:
-head lamp
-night lights / camp lights
-ez up for day shade
-ground cloth for when you’re high so you’re not just laying on the ground at your campsite
-shade cloths or tapestries for ez up
-captain’s chairs
-battery chargers and/or an alternator/converter for the car to leech off of that (leach? they both make sense, but I believe it’s the former)
-light on perishable food, heavy on snacks and peanut butter
