Let's talk Aguachile Alley
by Ersaph » Wed Sep 04, 2013 9:43 am
I was very intrigued by a description on ILX that likened it to Paramore and Prefab Sprout. tbh, I am not disappointed! One of the better pop albums of the year.
And I feel like this year is really about, just the year of realizing stuff.

I'd only heard the one single (sex?) and it did not appeal to me much

album was very samey for me at pts, and i rly didn't dig the random piano ballad the whole thing ends with. that said, the run fr "The City" through "Sex" was rly good. i can't remember anything after "Talk!" tho.

Fan of both Paramore and Prefab, but I find it hard to believe this band sounds like either.

It sounds more like Paramore filtered through an 80s gloss; kind of emotionally earnest/sappy like Prefab, if the comparison has to be made. Some of the syncopated drum stuff sounds like Scritti Politti. It's basically expansive sounding mainstream pop rock done really well
And I feel like this year is really about, just the year of realizing stuff.

You guys are really missing out with this album. Parts of it give me the same awesome vibes as the 1st BSP album
And I feel like this year is really about, just the year of realizing stuff.

like chocolate, hate everything else i've heard from them.
A lamp with a white shade was knocked over and broken. Someone was smoking pot. “This is the pot room!” a young man said.

The introduction to "Chocolate" sounds like promo music for a mid-2000s episode of 'True Life' in the best way
And I feel like this year is really about, just the year of realizing stuff.

This band would so so good if, like, they stripped down their sound a bit
