Sea Change II?

The album features many of the same musicians from his 2002 album Sea Change (Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Joey Waronker, Smokey Hormel, Roger Joseph Manning Jr., and Jason Falkner). The press release describes it as "a companion piece of sorts" to that album. Full album details are forthcoming.
leila came round and we watched a video.

the guitar ending of "blue moon" kinda sounds like blood orange, which is cool

nice hat. i've been digging his recent experiments, if you could call them that - releasing singles, the sheet music, the tracks on the playstation game soundshapes - more than the last few albums. having said that i do listen to modern guilt more than i'd ever expected to. guero and the information, not so much. could probably cut a decent album out of the two.

so yeah i'm looking forward to this.

can we rank beck albums?

for me, off the top of my head (subject to change)

-odelay
-seachange
-mellow gold
-midnight vultures
-one foot in the grave
-modern guilt
-guero
-the information

i love old beck... if i were to rank albums:

one foot in the grave
odelay
mellow gold
mutations
midnight vultures
seachange (a very distant last i'm afraid)

haven't listened to post seachange beck enough to rank them.

i love golden feelings too. out of his old demo stuff i probably love "don't get bent out of shape" most of all

another fave:

it's quite possible that the new version of this on annoyed me so much that i could never let myself get into seachange. sounds silly but i really love this track so much... it even helped me get through a breakup. then that new version sucked the life out of it.

other great old beck tracks:

^^ this live version of mexico is quite a bit better than the demo versions imo

Would dudes be weirded out if I said

Midnight Vultures
The information

then much farther behind these two:

seachange
Modern Guilt
Odelay
Guero
mellow gold

I just think MV and TI are fucking fantastic, is that an unpopular school of thought?

yeah that's pretty weird to me. but i get that some people prefer later era beck and that's cool. i don't think this thread needs a "his old stuff is way better mannn" guy so i'm not going to do that.

those cover albums he did with people were pretty cool. i'd probably kinda dig modern guilt if i gave it another shot
