I liked that user Pygmalion bumped the thread to point out the "Strangers in the Night" comparison that was obvious to everyone from the start.

Yeah the engineer at the sessions was probably like "Well, that sure sounds like 'Strangers in the Night.' But what do I care, as long as I'm getting paid what's the difference?"

the fact that there was another Lewis album that someone just discovered one day is the greatest proof we're living in a hologram

yeah, its a top 5 for me as well. i've gifted it to so many people and they love it just as much.
i recently found another reissue in a local shop, and gave that one to my girlfriend who was around during the whole saga unfolding and she definitely had to (probably) begrudgingly listen to me tell the story as it unfolded and just getting stoked about everything with regards to it - so she knew of the rarity of the original and the 'legend of lewis' but i don' think she liked the music much and the cover art turned her off too... she collects records more hardcore than i do, and she's a crate digger and doesn't fuck with discogs or small labels or distros or anything at all. shell blindly buy crates and crates in bulk. i wonder how many multiple copies she has of like, the grease soundtrack, or rumours, or fuckin christopher cross or whatever......but so anyways, i bust her around a month later trying to flip the lita repop on discogs listed for around 5oo - cuz being a discogs neophyte - she somehow only saw what a single OG pressing was going for, and thought she hit pay dirt. lol - her only saving grace on that one, was that she (unbeknownst to her) had a copy of detroit in effect's 'the unseen' that was in a random $100 crate she picked up in detroit at a previous tech fest - that i immediately conned her out of.

i remember exactly the moment i learned there was a new lewis. i was just paying my check at chuy's mexican restaurant on barton springs, in a booth facing the street. i pulled out my phone, checked facebook, and you had uploaded a picture of the new album. i basically short-circuited

I figured out what happened here

They renamed it from just "Lewis" to Lewis Baloue like the other album and some other artist was showing up as Lewis so I thought it was removed.

Spent the past 3 days reading this entire thread. Was aware of the records but not of the incredible backstory and discovery. Amazing to read it in "real time".

I don't know if the older threads are still around or not, but I think there's probably another good 3-4 years' worth of Lewis talk that would predate this thread too

I've read this one all the way through, but man if someone manages to dig up an older Lewis thread I'd appreciate it.

I remember going back to one of Ott's mixes during the height of Lewismania and realizing that the opening track was from L'Amour — and then figuring in turn that if he'd known about this years earlier, then it must've made it to the board around then as well.

I'm not sure when I got turned onto it, the mp3s I have seem to date to 2011 but I'm sure I remember listening to him for a couple of years before that... But maybe it's just that when you listen to Lewis it's like he's been with you your entire life and you're only now realising it.
