I stopped in the beer store to play a megamillion and the guy behind the counter asked if I was interested in another 4 pk of KBS for 20 bucks. Answer: fuck yeah!
Here are some pics from the Avery Sour Fest earlier today. Or the Boulder Sour Fest, as they seem to be calling it. There were a few breweries that I wish had been there that weren't, but overall I was really satisfied.
The beer list. If I had already had it before, I put an X to the left of it. If I had it today, I put a - in the notes section. As you can see, I drank a lot today. And they were all delicious.
Their barrel aging "cellar", which is actually at ground level, shortly after doors opened:
And their tap room, which was by far the most crowded and noisy place to be.
To me, it was better than the Great American Beer Festival, but that could just be because I love sours so much. A lot of these weren't super sour, but fell more into the "funky" category. Also there was some great food there.
Noooo. My boss is changing our 50% off everything and changing it to Happy Hour pricing all the time. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted. Guess I finished off my sweet discount with a $3 pint of Hoptimum and $3 pint of Sorachi Ale.
I got wrecked at the blind taste test. Weyerbacher won. I don't even know how you put yards against them, it was so easy to pick what was what.
Weyerbacher's 17th Ann. Imperial saison was incredible and so was their Insanity. It was the official first offering of both the 17 and Weyerbacher's new ipa (pretty good btw)
It was pour your own samples and we ended up destroying the pitcher of insanity with the dude and wife next to me.
Ended up with a yards and weyerbacher pint glass and a $25 gift card as prizes for judging
really disappointed by this upright brewing six. it is a rye saison, or dark saison, and really does not work as a style. it is very watery and starts with a nice hint of funk but ends with a strong almost metallic taste. do not buy.
Had a Cisco Monomoy Kriek this weekend, and it was completely flat and unsatisfying. It sounds like there may have been a carbonation problem with this batch in general, but I'm not sure I'm inclined to buy another bottle anytime soon to find out for sure.
so finally was able to hit up a couple of philly beer week events last night
Allagash tap takeover at a local joint, had the Respect your Elderberries and woooah is that good. highly recommended if you like super tart beers and also it looks like you're drinking blood which is always a plus. they threw a pie eating contest too, and the winner walked away with a bottle of something that they only bottled 400 of
Also had a couple of Stillwater beers, not too impressed with the wine barrel aged Autumnal...could not taste grape hints and just didn't pack a punch
i've been getting really into pestcest too lately. haven't really been able to find much good ant stuff, though. anybody have any links to some good biting vids/pics?

wyatt wrote:monday our local beer bar is getting a keg of cantillon kriek. order three and get a free cantillon glass to take home.
this turned out to be a keg of cantillon lou pepe kriek. god damn this was good.
damn...does this stuff sit for awhile down there or is it liquid gold like it is everywhere else now?
boulevard just released a pretty limited sour here, 'love child #2', and it's one of the best sours i've had in awhile, i prefer it to most of the rr beers to be honest. made me proud to be from the podunk midwest
