Quality Beer Thread

Let's talk Aguachile Alley

Postby Lucky » Thu Jun 07, 2012 11:35 pm

haven't had much quality beer in a while because i'm poor as shit but i had this yesterday because the bottle looked cool as fuck and the name seemed vaguely familiar

Image
i remember it being pretty nice but i can't remember much more than that, think it was citrusy
swiped the glass though!

Image
had this straight after and i remember it being better, was 10% and toffee tasting. thought it was darker than that photo though. noteworthy that they asked £10 deposit for the glass, just had a normal one instead

this turned out to be a keg of cantillon lou pepe kriek. god damn this was good.

damn...does this stuff sit for awhile down there or is it liquid gold like it is everywhere else now?

boulevard just released a pretty limited sour here, 'love child #2', and it's one of the best sours i've had in awhile, i prefer it to most of the rr beers to be honest. made me proud to be from the podunk midwest

their was little promotion for the keg. the owner of the bar is friends with the head brewer of cantillon and always gets great cantillon kegs. i have had Classic Gueuze, Fou' Foune, and Mamouche on tap there before. the LP kriek lasted monday, tuesday, and some of wednesday. at first it was $6 for a 10oz pour, then after a few hours they corrected it to $6 for a 6oz pour. luckily i had four 10oz pours and a glass to take home by then. :D

Delirium Tremens is probably one of my favorite beers on earth. It's like $18 for a 4-pack, though, so it's a pretty rare thing.

Also I love the bottles but foolishly tried to keep them for bottling my own beer, which results in overfilling the bottle every time. The Delirium Noel is just as good.

Recently went to Seattle and tried a bunch of great stuff. Brought these back with me. Not pictured is a bottle of Humulo Nimbus from the Sound Brewery.

And my gf brought these back from VA.

I used to have more to contribute to this thread but drinking is dialed way back these days. Kind of sad, kind of glad about that. Anyway, Colette is back Image and I really think there is nothing on earth better to drink in the summer

Had the Port 6th Anniversary Double IPA today. A really pleasant tropical hop taste, but a tad sweet and overcarbonated. The alcohol reaches double digits but is hidden surprisingly well.

ive had a couple of these now

i agree it is a bit overcarbonated, i think its due to previous years bottlings being undercarbonated

it was fantastic, but i hadn't had a cantillon in a few months and their acidity and funk is unrivaled in my mind

i'd recommend trying a fresher batch because all the blueberry left in that bottle was skins/tannins

try getting a 375 from recent years, it's easier and will be more fruit-forward

Yeah ... their pale ale. Did not like that. For some reason I thought that was Ballast Point.

So I retract my statement except where it applies to their shitty IPA/APA.

where, ebay? that's the only place I've seen them, and it's pricy.

maybe I should trade one of my isabelle proximus.

nah i don't fuck with ebay

for a proximus at this point you could swing a 750 of blabaer

that'd be a solid trade

what's the best place to trade, the ratebeer forums or something?

I do have lots of good stuff, but I think i'd rather trade for things I haven't had.

I wonder if '07 La Folie would be worth any more than a current vintage.

I can walk to a place like 5 minutes from me that constantly has growler fills of Two Hearted for $10.

This is probably gonna get bad.
