Thanks for the recommendations

Hey I have a question about getting around re: the airport

What are my best options for relatives or buddies flying in from out of town in terms of getting them to me in n druid hills or thereabouts? If I pick them up and it's not around rush hour, am I going to hate myself going 75/85? Is there an easy shuttle system or anything that would get them closer to me instead? Other ideas? Alternate routes?

have them take marta northbound til they get to a station near you

most stations have easy pick up areas that aren't usually crowded

Yeah? Pretty easy/safe for my small-town mom? Looking at the station map that would be extremely convenient

yeah you just follow signs for the station in the terminal (it's practically right around the corner from where arrivals pop out), buy a card at the machine, go up the escalator and get on the next train you see. then you just need to know where to get off. if you're concerned, park at the nearest station (most have free parking), spend the $2.50 to ride south and meet her, then take the train north and drive home.

my mom is coming into town from overseas this weekend and i don't have a car so we'll be taking marta everywhere. i use it everyday. it's a great way to get around the city.

I'll probably be back in Atlanta later this year we can totally meet.
ditto for whoever else wants to hang. I'm a bum who gets real nest-y with my girlfriend when we visit because we don't see each other much, but I'd put in some effort to get out of the house to meet some boarders.

Yeah, just know that if you are looking to get into any events, you will probably need to get in line an hour early... maybe even longer for something really popular. I typically just bring mini boxed wines and drink all day, all while failing to make the cut in many events. Its super fun people watching, so I'm still into it. The raves/night events are super fun/hilarious if you are into night life + nerds. THIS YEAR I WILL GET INTO AT LEAST 2 EVENTS a day. I have friend going to the annual playboy bunny event dressed as a twin peaks log lady bunny.

My husband, son, and in-laws went to watch it because my husband has a perfect view from his work. I stayed home to sleep, which backfired because of the inlaws dog.Image

Good luck Bartatua!

Any time my parents come to visit all they want to do is hang out in Buckhead, it’s so obnoxious.

Are you gonna do anything fun with your mom?

Bartatua, the airports not too bad. You'll be fine. Just make sure that your parents are already outside waiting for you when you arrive. Then they'll them to walk down to the end of the curb. It's always worse at the start of the terminal.

This is actually what I am going to do, I'm just going down there to meet her and help her navigate

Fuck going on 75/85, I've successfully avoided it since the day I moved in and intend to keep it that way

75/85 is not bad when it is not rush hour, but I rarely have to take it. I'm more of a 20 gal.

I took a family member from China to the world of coke 2 weeks ago, and it was ok if your mom likes that type of stuff. It's a secret, but ga residents get a cheaper ticket!

What does your mom like? It could be fun to take her to Kroger street or Ponce and walk around looking at stuff and trying different food.

The botanical gardens may already have their holiday lights up too.

She likes being outdoors and also likes shopping and eating, so those all sound like good options

I've been meaning to get to Ponce sometime, so maybe we'll try that

I've also thought the baby would like staring around at the aquarium, though thanksgiving week might not be the best best for doing that

Hey, is Daddy D'z still in business and still the same? I haven't lived in Atlanta in like 7 years, but I think about that place a lot.
