People are getting worst in this city on the L two girls were yelling at some old lady to get in it the fuck out when there was room for 9 people. Just walked by a girl trying to go down the stairs at Bedford and some people wouldn’t let her down while she was saying excuse me and ripped her bag of grocery’s and someone stepped on her flowers.

A little space
Some air to breathe
Just two or three craft breweries
Unnecessarily large homes

New York seems the exact same as when I left at the end of March

Every dark cloud tho...because lately I've been hitting up a bar called paradise. That kind of coincidence is only possible in da big apple

Damn, I remember walking past that spot all the time when the awful hotel was going up. There's a bouncer outside the garden now. Great essay.

nobody should be in jail, but also everyone who lives in and especially everyone who built that hotel should be in jail

As gentrified as it’s gotten (even within the dozen years that I’ve lived here) it makes me grateful that the East Village hasn’t been as demolished and redeveloped as the LES has (cause it hasn’t been rezoned i guess?) At least no one’s putting up 28 story boutique hotels on Ave D any time soon.

ugh...every semblance of the east village of the past has been replaced with nu school asian restaurants and sorority girls and frat dudes being priced out of murray hill and moving south.
