I'm still not really clear on what mario v rabbids is, it seems like it's trying to be a hybrid of a bunch of other things. is it essentially a turn-based strategy game? I'm not sure I've ever spent much time with one of those, is it like worms or what?

i mean on paper its x-com lite but i've found that the gameplay is more about making a sort of mouse trap-y master plan using all your characters abilities/movement/attacks in the perfect way. no arbitrary %-based decisions (cover is used so it's either 0%/50%/100% instead of being a square beside an enemy and getting a 14% chance to hit them with a shotgun) so it's a lot less RNG than most turn based/tactical strategy games and more about being creative in how you approach different situations with different characters/abilities. other than that the soundtrack is incredible and it's a really good looking game. also somehow found myself grinning at some the dumb rabbids stuff which is maybe the most surprising. at this point probably my second favorite switch game behind zelda

never heard of xcom but watching someone play it now and it looks pretty tedious, maybe they just suck tho

will I like it if I love starcrat but can't stand trad ff gameplay? 'turn-based' has always been a red flag for me

You go through childhood and turn 9 or 10 or 11, and you walk around with weird feelings, and no one ever sits you down and explains them - sadness or loneliness or being dissatisfied with how things are or are going until you hear it in a song and it's utterly transformative. - rubicon

would be great if we could actually trust Nintendo on this

https://www.gamespot.com/amp-articles/n ... 0-6453238/

When SNES Classic units opened for pre-order, they were hard to find. Some took this as a sign that SNES Classic, like the NES Classic, would be short on supply. However, Fils-Aime said issues with SNES Classic pre-orders were "outside our control" at retailers. He added that for the SNES Classic, supply is not the issue. "I would strongly urge you not to over-bid on an SNES Classic on any of the auction sites . . . You shouldn't [have to] pay more than $79.99," Fils-Aime said.

NES Classic going back into production, out 2018. They're saying another load of SNES Classics are coming too but honestly its likely still going to be impossible to find one this year.

Samus Returns is getting great reviews, which is a relief. my copy shipped, so i'm gonna try and get through the rest of M+R before it arrives. got sidetracked by Irma for a few days there.

also, there's a Nintendo Direct starting in less than an hour:
