man this new WITTR rules. Killer riffs and production. The Old Ones are With Us is so  it's like Summoning played on real instruments

thanks dalen. cathedral is always a must for sure.

i dig some of those reccs i'm unfamiliar with, but i guess i'm looking for some melodic doom that has a bit more of a hard rock/bluesy vibe.

ashamed this is my first time listening to paradise lost.

Hadn't expected to see any Paysage D'Hiver (especially in the dead of summer) but hey here we are.

There's never a bad timing for PD'H, quintessential as always. Fucking love those guys. Wasn't Das Tors announced as their last album ever?

no idea.

this just blows my mind.

“Metal has again become that rebellious thing,” says Matt Young, Executive Vice President of Warner Music Artist Services. “And it’s not the hair metal, it’s metal’s roots. You can see Iron Maiden shirts in H&M, their artwork is becoming iconic. It’s gone away and gotten dangerous again and that’s what makes it cool.”

i don't knw if this is valid but listening to paradise lost "gothic" is making me feel just as warm and misanthropic as all the type o that has become a staple of my my drunk and angsty listening blackhole.

why have i never listened to paradise lost. is everything as good as gothic and shades of god

Up until Shades of God they were brilliant. Icon and Draconian Times are pretty good. The weather is in the 50's so it's perfect for Paradise Lost.

Don't sleep on the first 3 Anathema releases either.

Caught Predatory Light live last night. Intense, meditative experience live.

They played with Witch Vomit who have released the best EP of the year so far.
