I recently bought a RC-1 Loop Station because I thought it would help my practicing, but instead it’s just made me more aware of how clumsy my playing sounds.

Even though it kinda sucks hearing yourself with new ears, it'll only make you better.

yeah looping really forces you to get your rhythm on point.

just in general, having good timing is essential to good guitar playing, it’s just as important as having a good melodic ear, which is something i think a lot of guitar players don’t realize

I took me far to long to realize why the dominant hand did the strumming and picking

Anyone have reccs or experience with those cheap Joyo/Donner/etc. pedals? Want an analog delay, reverb, and chorus pedal but since I don't gig on guitar anymore blowing $150 on a Carbon Copy or Hall of Fame doesn't appeal to me. Other cheap pedal reccs are fine too, Guitar Center has a bunch of $50 TC Electronic pedals that could fit the bill.

Though damn that Jazzmaster is gorgeous and I've been lusting after that or a jag recently for janglier tones on recordings.

Those cheap knockoff pedals are fine for what they are. I have a delay that works pretty well, doesn't add any noise or take any of my signal out, and has held up for a couple years at this point. If you're not playing out a ton and abusing them, they should suit you fine.

Playing my mom's Spanish guitar. It's my absolute favorite instrument in the world. Every time I pick it up I end up playing for many hours. It sounds so rich and warm and sweet. Alhambra model 6P.

The one I posted? That's fair I guess - a Muff has that power tube breakup thing down pretty well and that's what this reminds me of. I really really do wish it had a tone control because it'd be nice to roll off the highs a little bit, but straight up it's the best distortion pedal I've ever used, hands down.

i got to try one of these and holy shit was I wrong

it's so insane i actually bought one

stone deaf trashy blonde. it's marshall style overdrive that can crunch from like jtm45 lighter distortion all the way to jcm 800 huge shit. has a slick parametric eq too and pairs really well with super clean fender amps. figured i'd give it a shot.

i usually hate pedal demos because everyone plays the same butt rock, but this one (and this kid's channel) is really good:

Like distorting too easily and really dirtily. Maybe just a shot tube? Clean channel works fine.

oh i misread. it's the whole channel. yeah, if you're getting unpleasant breakup at low volumes i would say it's probably a tube issue. take it too a tech. don't try to DIY.

Is it time to do the thing again where we post our boards? Right now I'm

TC Electronic Polytune --< Keeley 4-knob compressor --< Dunlop Crybaby wah --< Analogman King of Tone overdrive --< Analogman Peppermint Fuzz --< Boss CH-1 Super Chorus --< '90s Electro Harmonix Microsynth --< MXR Carbon Copy delay --<TC Electronic Hall of Fame reverb

out of a 1968 Fender Vibrolux or 1964 Gibson Skylark and into a '90s telecaster.

Pretty basic setup, but it's taken a long time to dial everything in so it feels REALLY great to have it settled. Like, finally, for the foreseeable future, this is my sound. It works pretty well (with minor variations) for every group I play with, from heavy psych to weird smooth Mallsoft.
