hot take but i'm not crazy about the mike stuff. the stakes feel really low given what we know about mike and gus' future. it seems like a combination of BB fan service and an easy way to ramp up the excitement/action, which i guess overlap.
guessing this is an outdated take but the cinematography this season seems like it's on another level. Every episode there is a shot or 10 that just blow me away.

how would you have handled it?
how would i handle the show in general?
i'd have subplots based on other characters rather than anchor everything around saul and mike, and if they're going to have suspenseful/action-based mike plots, have them with interesting new characters who aren't tied to BB so there's at least a little mystery and suspense
well, we knew going in where the Jimmy/Mike relationship was headed, that this show is a prequel trying to establish Jimmy as Saul and Mike as the scary Mike from BB. so i can't really complain about getting exactly what i expected and then some (Ernie and his blue Evo)
The only thing I sorta disappointed myself with (in terms of tying the timelines together) was checking whether we ever actually saw Kaylee's mom (Mike's daughter in law) in Breaking Bad. We did (extremely briefly), and in my head I'd watched everything in Better Call Saul under the assumption that she died at some point. I don't know why, but I did.

you have to admit some of the stuff is pretty fan service-y, like there was that slow ominous pan-out to a Pollos Los Hermanos sign, the Tuco reveal early on in series, the dumb FRINGSBACK episode title thing, etc.
anyway i enjoyed last night's ep, thought that nerdy cashier was gonna be on to fring
