Meatloaf was a late-in-life revelation for me because when I was growing up my mother would semi-regularly make it and it was always the most bland, mediocre thing. I had no idea it was something that could actually be enjoyed.

I worked at subway. 8-)

And I wouldn't call the extra stuff in meatloaf "filler", so much as binder. Meatloaf is specifically made to be eaten with a fork. Hamburgers don't need a lot of meatloaf ingredients because they're picked up with hands and a bun.
