Would people be down for CHESS.COM- HPN Club Vote Chess NOW!

Ive found in time the search on this forum was shit but if you google whatever keywords with the word hipinion, you get what you're looking for most of the time. I mean even when they keywords aren't exact.

in the low rank (6xx) blitz games i'm playing, i realize that most of the time, gambit offerings are not actually offerings, people just put their pawns forward unprotected not paying attention to the fact that you can actually take them on turn three.
I just played three games where my opponents played kings pawn on E4 as a first move, followed by my knight on F6, then opponent plays whatever move not protecting his pawn, followed by NxE4, followed by a good 10 seconds of opponent dumbfounded, realizing he already lost a piece for nothing.
Angry player will then often take his queen out, and then the hunt can begin :ahuh:

I really like playing 15|10 games right now because I'm trying to be really patient and make good moves. I'm down for rapid/blitz too or correspondence. Come on everybody let's play the hottest game out right now!

How many moves was the game? Correspondence game or blitz/rapid? You should get the points. If you abandon a game after move 2. I'm p sure it counts as a loss.

That is if the game ended. When my time runs out I just go into "vacation" mode on a correspondence game because I pay 5 bucks a month to chess.com (mostly for extra tactics puzzles) and I can come back whenever. Maybe it was like that?

yooo the game isn't over! Material is pretty much even despite the position. You could still do this.

I've been trying to examine my own games more closely once they're done. idk why.. it's just been fun to try to improve at chezz. If you want, I can take notes on this one and include my thoughts about how we reached this position. I think this position was contingent on a few key opening moves, and it could maybe save you from repeating a mistake for future games.

I've seen this book universally recommended. Logical Chess Move by Move: https://www.amazon.com/Logical-Chess-Every-Explained-Algebraic/dp/0713484640

Although it isn't only about openings, I think it covers the principles of an opening really well.

I don't want to come off as a supposed expert or anything, because I am an amateur too.

An important advice that I got was to not play openings (like, don't play "Kings Indian" or "Slav Defense" or "Queen's Gambit") because those openings have different systems that, unless you've studied every possible outcome and every position, you can easily mess up if you don't play them a particular way. I was told to:

1. Develop towards the center, so that your pieces are trying to control the four squares in the middle
2. Develop minor pieces first. So, develop your knights and bishops first, and move the pawns up for that purpose only.
3. Castle early
4. Don't move the pawns around the king after you've castled

Also, my rating improved by like 100 points when I started to focus on my undefended pieces. My biggest focus on my games right now is to make sure no pieces are left undefended (which I'm failing at in our game right now).

Chess.com has a "lessons" section that is good. I use it all the time. It goes through beginner, intermediate, and advanced opening principles.
