I'm in town till early Saturday, visiting UT's philosophy department. Any and all Austin boarders feel free to get at me if you want to go out for a beer or learn to lift weights or tell me what's cool in town.
at the same time, when i first heard this song in the 4th grade, i couldn't stop thinking of death and the release of the human soul from the body....flying through the air and darkness!!!...

mainly in austin, and even when it's over 100 outside. there's a homeless person at every major stoplight asking for money, but you get used to it after awhile.
well that was intense

i'm also going to visit austin this month, prolly from the 24th to the 29th or so, then i start my master's program at UT in august.

where should i buy a house? i'm looking at places downtown/hyde park/n. university but i'm basically going off of people on the internet's opinions of 'cool places to live' as i've never been there.

also are there good places to camp near town? we are making this trip a vacation/outdoor adventure

You can buy a shit house for a lot of cash right around campus/downtown. I'd suggest north Austin. I lived off of 360, which has beautiful trails for hiking/biking, etc. A lot less cheap but still in a great location.

As far as camping around Austin, Enchanted Rock is cool. That's out by Llano. Also, Devil's Backbone if you're not scared of screaming Indian children in the woods at 3AM.
